APRIL 2025

If you have never attended the Easter Vigil, I highly recommend that you do so this year. The Roman Missal borrows a quote from St. Augustine when it refers to the Easter Vigil as “the mother of all Holy Vigils.” Anyone who has attended this beautiful, unique Holy Week liturgy would be hard-pressed to disagree. The Easter Vigil is the longest service of the year, for good reason. It’s filled with powerful Scripture and beautiful liturgical traditions. It’s also when the Church grows, since the Easter Vigil is the night when catechumens can receive the Catholic sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion on the same night. The readings go through salvation history and bring our Faith to life. This Vigil will give you a fresh perspective of Easter. This Mass will bring you joy and transformation. Please remember to keep Holy Family Radio in your prayers this Easter Season!

In His perfect love, Jesus sacrificed Himself for us. Easter gives us the hope of His Resurrection. Have a Blessed Easter!

The Hope of Spring

God, thank you for Spring and the hope of warmer, longer, brighter days.

Thank you for the coming of growth, life and birth.

Thank you that things are coming awake in the world.

This is what our calendar says, and we do see some signs that it is real.

But we also still struggle with the residual layover of Winter.

Now we ask that you bring into reality all that belongs in this Season.Your Word says that we will have provision, hope, joy, health and loving relationships here and now in this life.

We ask that what belongs in this Season would become actual in our practical lives.

We hope in You and in Your promises. We hope in your gift of Spring.

Spiritual Advisor's Corner

Father Timothy Sahd

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

There is no better time in the Church year, at least for me, than Holy Week and Easter. Holy Week is REAL. Much of the time, we can put Jesus in a "nice" box, where He is there when things are going well, and we hide things when they are not. He's the good friend who we only talk about good things and then ignore Him when things are not so good.

At least that is how I can see Jesus sometimes. But Holy Week forces us to ignore that fake relationship. It really allows us to be with Him when He is suffering, when He is sorrowful and when He is deserted. We walk with Him when He can go no further. And then we are with Him when He dies. But then we are with Him in the Joy of the Resurrection! Wow, what a week. It's a REAL Faith, with REAL LIFE!

Please, if you get a chance, engage in all of the Liturgies that your parish offers during Holy Week. If you want to "get real" with the Faith, or if you are in a rut, go to Holy Thursday, the Good Friday Liturgy of the Passion, the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday Masses, and you will KNOW what it means to live a REAL Faith. God bless you!

Scripture of the Month

Matthew 28:5-7

5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

Update from Russ Fry

Happy Easter, everyone! If you are looking for good food during Lent, check out our website for information on fish dinners and Easter eggs. You will see the promos from Seven Sorrows and from St. Ann Byzantine. Also on our website is information on our Upcoming Online Auction being held May 16, 17, and 18. Tune in May 5-8 for our Spring Pledge Drive. Your support during this Pledge Drive will be greatly appreciated. We sent out the letters (that I mentioned last month) to the parishes a few weeks ago. We are hoping that you will encourage your Pastor to prayerfully consider donating to Holy Family Radio to help us meet our operating expenses. Have a Blessed Easter and God Bless!

April: The Blessed Sacrament

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life; all of our works are oriented toward it. Jesus’ Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity are truly present in a small host. When we receive the Blessed Sacrament we unite ourselves to God and receive the life and healing He longs to give us.

Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta said: “The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on Earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven and will help bring about everlasting peace on earth.”

How to celebrate: Spend time in Adoration or attend another Mass during the week in addition to your Sunday Obligation.
