November is the time when we pray for our deceased brothers and sisters. Please remember to pray for our departed supporters here at Holy Family Radio. Without their financial assistance, Holy Family Radio would not be on the air today. November is also a month when we give thanks. I am thankful for all of the listeners that we have. Your support through these years makes it possible for us to continue this apostolate. Thank you for listening and supporting us. As we approach the Holiday Season, remember to spread the word that we have a Catholic Radio Station right here in the Harrisburg area. We have more and more listeners using our free mobile app to listen. You can invite your family and friends to listen, even if they are outside of our broadcast area. This is a way you can be part of this important evangelization effort. Please continue to pray and financially support Holy Family Radio. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Update from Russ Fry
I was thinking about how we set aside one day every year in November to be thankful and couldn’t help but wonder, are we being thankful enough in our every day lives? Are we thanking God daily for our health, family and friends, our pets, and for Holy Family Radio for bringing the Word of God to Central Pennsylvania? I can assure you that the staff here at the radio station is very thankful for our listeners and financial supporters. We are especially thankful to you for giving generously to the Faithful Give effort and the Pledge Drive that we held in October. You are the reason that we do what we do.
This month we will be at the Women’s Expo in Carlisle on Nov 11th. We hope that you will come out to see us. We are also implementing a new donor management system to simplify our processes for record keeping and for better communication with our listeners. Please be patient as we fine tune the online giving process and update and automate thank you letters and emails. We are trying to make this transition as seamless and transparent as possible. Over the coming months, we may reach out to verify some of the information on file to make sure that it’s accurate. Your help will be appreciated.
Have a wonderful November and please remember our Veterans in your prayers. Enjoy Thanksgiving and be sure to count your Blessings.

Spiritual Advisor's Corner
Father Timothy Sahd
I was talking with our school children here at Seven Sorrows about what it means to receive the Blessed Sacrament, and one kid yelled out a line that perfectly tells the story. He said, "You are what you eat."
We do not change into what we eat, really! If so, I'd be a very large McDonald's French fry! But in the Eucharist, in the Body and Blood of Our Savior, if we receive worthily, we BECOME Him!!! The Seven Sorrows' student was almost correct. We are "who" we receive (not "what").
How can we say that? The prayer after Communion a few weeks ago tells the story. It says, "Grant us, almighty God, that we may be refreshed and nourished by the Sacrament we have received, so as to be TRANSFORMED INTO what we consume."
We become who we consume: Jesus Christ! Our Sacraments transform us. Holy Family Radio helps us understand these great tenets of our Faith, and helps us answer questions about our Faith and the Mass. Thank you for supporting this radio station so that so many can begin to understand this life changing news! I pray that the world understands this, so that the world is transformed into the ONE Body of Christ!
Fr. Sahd

November: The Holy Souls in Purgatory
Major Feast: All Souls’ Day (November 2)
As Catholics, we believe that the Church is made up of the souls here on earth, the saints in heaven, and the souls suffering in Purgatory. The souls in purgatory cannot pray for themselves and need our prayers and sacrifices to enter fully into the Beatific Vision. November is a set aside for the faithful to remember and pray for these brothers and sisters of ours.
How to celebrate: Visit the cemetery and pray for the dead. Not only is praying for the dead a spiritual work of mercy, but the Church also offers a plenary indulgence for those who do this during the first week of November.

November is the month devoted to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. It begins with the Feast of All Saints on November 1, so it is fitting that there are such exciting and beautiful feast days dedicated to the saints this month. Let’s mark our calendars now as we plan out ways to celebrate some unforgettable feast days this November!
November 1 Solemnity of All Saints
On this day, we celebrate All Saints, as we recall in a magnificent vision All Saints of all nations and tribes standing before the throne and insight of the Lamb.
November 2 Commemoration of All Faithful Departed
On this day, we pray for the Faithful Departed, as we pray for All Souls in purgatory who await the day when they will be joined in the company of the Saints.
November 20 Christ the King
On this day we celebrate the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, king of the Universe, and Christ's royalty over individuals, families, society, governments, and nations.
Visit a cemetery and pray for the Faithful Departed for all the souls in purgatory. Pray the rosary for the Forgotten Souls in Purgatory.

Little Jamie came home from religious education class and proudly announced that she had learned the Lord's Prayer. But she had a question. “Mommy”, she asked sweetly, “if we get Our Daily Bread from God, why do we need bakeries?”

At an ecumenical service at St. Ann’s one evening, the pastor remarked just before the collection, “We welcome all denominations here. But we especially favor tens, twenties, and fifties”.
