In October, our Church celebrates Respect Life Month. The first Sunday of October is designated as Respect Life Sunday. The USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities provides materials to help Catholics understand and value the gift of human life and help build a culture that cherishes and protects it.
You should also plan to attend the PA March for Life on October 16 in Harrisburg. Our very own Bishop Timothy Senior will be one of the speakers.
Here is the schedule:
9:30 AM – Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral
10:00 AM – Prayer and Praise Pre-Rally
11:00 AM – Pennsylvania March for Life Rally
12:00 PM – Pennsylvania March for Life
1:30 PM – Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral
Another Pro-Life event coming up is the PA Pro Life Federation Dinner on October 28th. Raymond Arroyo is the Keynote Speaker and Bishop Timothy Senior will be doing the invocation.
More information on these events can be found using the links below.
I would like to thank the Russ Fry and the volunteers who worked hard over the past few months to get weather forecasts on WHYF. I also thank our friends at Wilhem's Hardware, in Hershey, for supporting this project and SonShine Weather for all of their technical assistance making current, up-to-date weather possible for our listeners.
October is going to be a busy month for us. Please plan to participate in some of our upcoming events and keep Holy Family Radio in your prayers.

WHYF Welcomes Another Volunteer-
John Russo
I recently retired after 45+ years working within two different corporate environments. I have been a supporter and active consumer of EWTN programming since the late-1980s. Over the years it has provided me with comfort, a better understanding of our Catholic faith, and unique coverage of world events. When traveling around the local area I most often tune my radio to AM720.
After some discernment of how to put to good use some of my ‘retirement time’, I decided to contact Holy Family Radio. The message brought to the world through the EWTN network and its affiliates reveal a deeper understanding of our faith. I felt that the ministry at Holy Family Radio could provide me with a small way to help reach those who may be looking for answers that are not always so easy to find in a secular world. I hope to provide help around the station in any way that I am able.

We encourage you to support them as well. Tell them that you appreciate all they do for WHYF. Please refer to the Business Supporters on our website when you need a product or service!

Update from Russ Fry
Another day, another dollar as the old saying goes. But during October 15-17, your dollar can be stretched when you participate in Faithful Give. Faithful Give is an organization that was created to provide a giving channel that is aligned to Christian values. For charities that are participating, there is a stretch fund that will be split according to the amount each charity raises. The more that we are given, the bigger the share of the stretch fund and prizes that we can be awarded. Simply go to www.faithfulgive.org and select Causes from the menu line, then scroll down to our WHYF icon, click it and follow the directions. Please be as generous as you can and bless you for your support.
Also, be sure to mark your calendar for two expos that we will be attending in October. We will be at the 50+ Expo at the Carlisle Expo Center on October 11th, and at the Women’s Expo in Lancaster County at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex on October 28th. Come out and visit with us as we spread the word about Holy Family Radio.
We welcome two new sponsors to WHYF. Wilhelm’s Hardware store in Hershey is underwriting the new weather broadcasts that was launched in September. We are also being supported now by the Garden Bouquet in Mechanicsburg. Please patronize all our sponsors as they are very important in helping Holy Family Radio stay on the air. You can see the current list of sponsors on our website.
Have a great month and a happy, fun, and very safe Halloween.

Spiritual Advisor's Corner
Father Timothy Sahd
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Isn't it funny how EVERYONE knows the weather forecast for the day, especially if it's going to be bad? Just a few weeks ago, there was a day where everyone was predicting storms that could produce hail and tornadoes. That day, so many people came up to me and told me to be safe; to watch out; to stay inside; to make precautions.
I saw a lot of businesses close for that afternoon and evening. I heard that Hersheypark even closed early! The storms weren't terrible here, but there were a lot of downed trees and branches. They were worse in other states, though. It's good to take reasonable precautions.
But why is it that when Jesus tells us about upcoming dangers, we don't listen? How is it that when He tells us to avoid certain behaviors, or to prepare for His Kingdom, that we don't really bat an eye? "Oh well," we think, "I'll do that another time. I have plenty of time."
That is so dangerous! If only we took His words as seriously as we took a meteorologist's words (who is right less than half of the time)! Why is weather more real to us than Jesus' Kingdom? Holy Family Radio is a great resource that reminds us of Jesus' Teachings, and prepares us for His Kingdom. Thank you so much for your support of our station. Now, let's heed His Words!
Fr. Sahd

Update from Maria Gallagher,
PA Pro-Life Federation
Thousands of pregnant women throughout Pennsylvania could lose the vital services they need if Governor Josh Shapiro goes ahead with his plan to rescind the contract of Real Alternatives. Real Alternatives runs Pennsylvania’s award-winning Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services Program. The program funds pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes and adoption agencies across the Commonwealth. Nearly 350,000 women have been served by the program, which has become a model for the rest of the nation.
Action Item: Please contact your State Representative and State Senator and let them know that you stand with pregnant women and want Real Alternatives’ contract renewed. Thank you for making these critical calls and sending these important emails! Use the link below.

October: The Holy Rosary
Major Feast: Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7)
The Rosary is one of the most powerful forms of prayer that the Church gives to the faithful; popes, saints, even the Blessed Mother herself have spoken on the importance of praying the Rosary. Like Padre Pio who said: “Love the Madonna and pray the rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother.”
It’s a simple but profound way to meditate on the life of Jesus and to grow closer to Mary who will always lead us to her Son.

“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.”
