OCTOBER 2022 Newsletter
I was able to attend the Pennsylvania March For Life a few weeks ago. This was the first state rally since the overturn of Roe v. Wade. I was encouraged to see the gigantic crowd at the event. It was great to see all ages represented. I was able to interview some of the speakers as well as a number of the marchers. It was exciting to be with a diverse group of people who all shared the same concern for the unborn. We still have much work to do regarding the pro-life issue. During this Marian Month, I invite you to pray to Our Lady for her continuing assistance. You can see our coverage of the March on our website.

Microwave Update
We are replacing our microwave link from our Broadcast Center to our transmitter site with a more reliable internet connection. While this change increases our internet costs, we are confident that this upgrade is essential at this time. Your financial support is even more important with these increased internet fees.

Well, Fall is here! Goodbye to Summer and the lazy, hazy days, although they weren’t very lazy days for us at Holy Family Radio. The good news is that we recruited a new Supporter last month. We welcome Huntingdon Learning Center in the Colonial Commons Shopping Center in Harrisburg the WHYF family. In October, we hope to welcome more members to our family during our Fall Pledge Drive that runs October 17th through the 20th. We will not be preempting any of our radio shows for this Drive, so you can continue listening to your favorite show. Please let your friends and family know about this Drive and ask them to join in and donate to our station. We especially need friends and patrons to step up and help us out with some matching funds for the drive. Call the station at 717-525-8110 to donate the matching funds. Help us to continue our work of spreading the Good News throughout Central PA.

Those lanternflies are everywhere! It seems like the Fall has brought the "falling" of the lanternflies. They're dropping from the sky, all over the place. I go for a run every day, but one particular day I killed 9 of those things, as we're supposed to do.
The problem: You just can't kill them all. They just seem to be multiplying. I'm pretty sure only Divine Assistance will help us get rid of those things.

It seems to me that sin is the same way. We can try and kill it off on our own, but it just keeps attacking and multiplying. It is only through the grace of the Sacraments, particularly the Sacrament of Reconciliation, that we will be freed from the scourge. No actions on our own will get rid of them. Only the power of the Cross and Resurrection, brought to us through the Sacraments, can conquer it. Thank God for the gifts of the Sacraments. Now, if only God will do something with the lanternflies!

The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7. October falls during the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time, which is represented by the liturgical color green. This symbol of hope is the color of the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection.
Now you can listen to our local programs as podcasts on our YouTube channel. Go to YouTube and search for Holy Family Radio.
Jokes of the Month
A little boy was listening to a long and excessively boring homily in church. Suddenly the red sanctuary lamp caught his eye. Tugging his father's sleeve, he said, "Daddy, when the light turns green can we go?"
