SEPTEMBER 2022 Newsletter
I have been considering all of the devotions, prayers, saints and traditions that we have in our Faith. There are so many ways that we can interact with our Lord and the Church! There is something for everyone. I feel it is the ultimate smorgasbord! We at Holy Family Family Radio and EWTN try to offer a "buffet" of some of what the Church has to offer. If you have a favorite show that you regularly listen to, sample another one. Our complete schedule is on our website. Don't forget that our local shows can be listened to at anytime as a podcast. Remember that you are part of the family. Contact me with your suggestions. Don't forget to tell someone about WHYF today. Please keep Holy Family Radio in your prayers.

Welcome to September and Fall! I hope that you had a great summer! Now, it’s back to school and all the fall activities. We at Holy Family Radio are looking forward to this month, as we will be attending the 50 Plus Expo. There are several other expos coming up. We will be getting those dates out very soon. There is a link for more information later in this Newsletter.

Also this month, we will be preparing for our Semi-Annual Pledge Drive - Answer The Call. Please contact right now us if you can donate to this important fund.

Stay safe and enjoy the upcoming fall weather!
Spiritual Advisor's Corner

Dear WHYF Listeners,

Do you like football? For me, the end of the summer is a bit tough to accept. But football, both college and professional, is a great gift for me that helps me take my mind off the end of summer.

We use a lot of things to take our mind off of realities that we want to avoid. Some people escape using their phones. Some immerse themselves in exercise. Others resort to substances to help them. All of us want to escape from reality at some point. The problem is that our distractions cause more anxiety, because we're just delaying the inevitable.

But, when we face reality no matter how bad straight on, and allow God to work without the hindrances we place in our way, He'll help us resolve the situation faster, and with less agony than if we procrastinated with our distractions.

Holy Family Radio, and its constant presence on the radio, is a great help in this. Let's turn to Our God when we face a tough reality and allow Him to guide us, instead of looking for a fake reality that only delays the inevitable.

September is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows
“Then Simeon blessed them and said to his mother Mary, 'This child is destined for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be opposed so that the inner thoughts of many will be revealed—and a sword will pierce your own soul too.'” Luke 2:34-35

The Seven Sorrows of Mary are: The Circumcision and Prophecy of Simeon, the Flight into Egypt, Loss of Child Jesus for Three Days, Jesus on his Way to Calvary, the Crucifixion, Body of Christ and Lamentations, and the Burial of Christ

During this month of September, we are drawn into the spiritual martyrdom that the Blessed Mother experienced during the physical martyrdom of Jesus. The evils of sin are manifest but conquered through intense suffering. The Blessed Mother's tears of anguish reflect God's washing away of sin.
Now you can listen to our local programs as podcasts on our YouTube channel. Go to YouTube and search for Holy Family Radio.
Jokes of the Month
God was talking to one of his angels. He said, "I just created a 24-hour period of alternating light and darkness on earth." The angel replied, “What are you going to do now?” God said, “Call it a day.”

A Catholic school teacher asked little Johnny, “Tell me honestly, do you say your prayers before eating?” “No Sir,” little Johnny replied. "I don't have to. My mom is a good cook.”
