Call for Proposals Building the Heart of Successful Schools

Please consider presenting your effective practices at our program sharing conference. Proposals are due by 
April 14, 2018.

The DPI and the Wisconsin Safe & Healthy Schools Center are inviting Wisconsin school districts, colleges, community-based organizations, and other partners to submit proposals to present at the Building the Heart of the Successful Schools Conference at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells on December 6-7, 2018.

Topics typically addressed at the conference are: Preventing ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs), Mental Health, Creating a Positive School Climate, Health, School Safety and Violence Prevention, Trauma Sensitive Schools, Social Emotional Learning, etc.

After any tragedy, crisis, or disaster, families of students and other adults often struggle with what they should say or share with youth. That includes how to help them best cope with their emotions. Students have a lot of questions, fears, and anxieties. The following is a collection of resources designed to help. The strategies include ways to help minimize stress, restore a sense of normalcy, and open channels of communication.

Teen Driving Resources

Becoming a safe, skilled driver takes lots of practice behind the wheel.  Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws reduce the risk by making sure teens gradually build driving experiences with supervision before getting their licenses and restricting driving after they are licensed. 

The GDL laws can be confusing and here are some resources to help from the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin & Partners:

Title IV, Part A Application FAQ Available

Now available as of 3/8/18 is a frequently asked questions document.  As of 2/13/18, the Title IV-A grant application is live in WISEgrants.  Schools can access the grant at your earliest convenience to complete the application and budget.
