Call for Officials:
North Central LSC Open Water Championships
Officials:
I'm excited to announce another Open Water competition has been added to the 2023 Summer Schedule!

The North Central LSC Open Water Championships will provide swimmers with another opportunity to participate in Open Water competition close to home. This Open Water event is a multi-state meet to include Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin Swimmers.

The Open Water competition will be held at Lake Andrea in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin on Thursday, June 29th, 2023 (WI sanctioned meet). This meet will have 1K, 2K and 3K competitions and racing will begin at approximately 3pm (additional information on the exact officials arrival time will be provided, but estimate to arrive around 12pm).

Our Ask:
I'm reaching out, as you are an official for one of the LSC's participating in the meet (we do realize this meet is approximately a week after Central Zones, but with the date available at Lake Andrea, we couldn't let the opportunity pass to provide swimmers with another Open Water competition opportunity). I would like to personally invite you to sign-up (using the link below) to provide "all hands on deck" for the event!
There are many officials and volunteer positions we need to fill at the meet, to include: swimmer check-in, course patrol, swimmer finishes, event officiating, etc. There are on-the-water and shore based positions available - so bring a friend!

Please use the following link to sign-up for the event!

We're looking forward to making the Open Water multi-state meet a huge success and an additional opportunity for Open Water Swimmers in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mike Mellock (Meet Referee) at mikemellock@gmail.com or myself at officials@ilswim.org.

Thank you,
Amanda Schleede, Illinois LSC Chair

All,

I will be serving as the Meet Referee for the Summer Sectional meet. I will need all the help I can get. This will be a good opportunity for some fun, evaluations, opportunity to serve and fast swims.

We have the honor of having our OQM evaluator, Wayne Shulby, who can do N3 Final evaluations for all positions. But, there is a limit so apply sooner rather than later.

I'll be picking the Team Leads soon so let me know your interests via the application link below.

See below link for access to the Sectional Meet information

WSI Meet Updates
Notes From USA Swimming
  • USA Swimming announced enhancements to the Online Member Registration (OMR) process with the addition of bulk renewals. Bulk renewal will offer coaches and team leaders the opportunity to renew multiple members in a single transaction. We are committed to soliciting and integrating member feedback as part of a continual effort to improve the software we provide. The addition of bulk renewals is in direct response to coach and team leader feedback and is one of the numerous enhancements that will be offered as part of the 2024 OMR process.
  • This is one of multiple ways to communicate and is merely meant to announce the addition of the bulk renewal functionality and facilitate conversation among coaches and team leaders about renewal strategies for the upcoming 2024 season. Additional information regarding payments, opt-in deadlines, team management software implications and other anticipated FAQs will be communicated throughout the summer.
  • Only 2023 USA Swimming Memberships will be eligible for bulk renewal. New members will still create a USA Swimming account and register through the OMR registration process. Bulk renewal is optional for coaches and team leaders, and each team can evaluate if they want to utilize the new functionality. if a team elects not to utilize the bulk renewal process, their members will simply renew using a "one button renewal" process in their USA Swimming Account. Team leaders will need to evaluate key considerations before deciding to opt-in or opt-out for bulk renewals later this summer.
__________________________

  • After hearing your feedback, USA Swimming will be extending the Quality Coaching Framework (QCF) requirement to September 1, 2024 for existing coaches. Without the time constraints of the typical competition season, we hope extending through August will allow ample time for coaches to fulfill this requirement. Please note: new coaches are still required to take the QCF course before getting on deck.
