2021 Fort Saskatchewan International Women's Day!
International Women's Day 2021 - #ChoosetoChallenge

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The theme for 2021 in #ChoosetoChallenge.

In Fort Saskatchewan, we are planning a week-long virtual celebration including stories from inspiring women, ways to network and engage with other local women, as well as an evening event on Friday, March 5, 2021 that will have impactful break-out sessions led by our Honouring Our Challenge speakers, and an inspiring keynote delivered by Kindred focusing on how to “flip the script” and invest in one another. Leading up to this incredible event will be a social media campaign designed to motivate, provoke reflection, and spark connections.

Registration and the Celebration:

Registration is now open, and tickets are only $10!

If you are interested in a 2021 IWD Celebration Box containing products from local female-led businesses, you can also purchase one at that time! These boxes are only $35 and are valued at over $100! There are only 25 available, so they will go fast!

These Celebration Boxes will be available for delivering or pick up on March 5th before the keynote event and contain:

Keynote:

We are proud to announce Megan and Renee of Kindred as our 2021 Keynote Speakers.

The 2021 Keynote acknowledges that there is no choice to challenge; we must challenge the barriers before us. There is choice, however, in how we respond. One of the biggest challenges we often face, other than ourselves, is competition with each other. Holding ourselves back by holding back from others out of fear of other's greatness. We must invest in each other, support and encourage each other, so that we can all truly succeed TOGETHER.

Kindred's intention with the keynote is to help flip the script; to create trust and connection within members of our own community. The goal is to create further growth and support with each other. Learn more about the story of Kindred, as well as the founders, Megan and Renee.

Thank you to Nutrien for sponsoring the keynote.
Honouring our Challenge Video Speaker Series:

  • Gloria Brathwaite – Program Manager, Restorative Justice
  • Bonnie-Lynne Boehm – Principal, Elk Island Catholic Schools
  • Cori Evans - Co-Owner, ANew Centre for Healing
  • Catherine Costin, Alberta Operations Site Leader and Vice-President, Dow Canada

Premiering the week of March 1st-4th, videos highlighting and sharing the stories of the Honouring Our Challenge Speakers will be shared on the Chamber's YouTube channel and on the IWD, WIB, and Chamber of Commerce's Facebook pages.

Thank you to Dow Canada for sponsoring this series.
