Describe your role & what you love about it.

I enjoy the variety that this role presents, every project is different and therefore it is a great way to stay motivated and interested. Most of my role is communicating in some form, which helps share the vision and get work done.

How many other women inspired you or helped shape your career?

Many have, too many to mention in fact, but my mother shaped me, taught me, molded me, and most importantly loved me hard and unconditionally. So I am who I am because of my mother and certainly I must give her most of the credit. Also, when I look back in time to when I was most impressionable, it was and continues to be those women that had or have a voice and they are heard. A couple of teachers, coaches, peers in prior work organizations come to mind; however, any of my “team” experiences have helped me. They have helped me to overcome some of my hurdles in the form of building close connections with other women, i.e. teammates. My teammates and I share similar experiences so we always worked together to build upon each other’s talents. I always try to position myself within the correct inner circles so they can lift me up and support me.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I played baseball with boys up until I was 17 years old when I was told I could NO LONGER play organized baseball and had to switch to girls’ softball. It busted my dream of playing for the Cincinnati Reds, but I never lost my strong desire to be the best athlete I could be. In fact once I could no longer play ball, I switched my skills to the game of golf. So, in 2012, after many years of building that skill set I won one of the country’s largest amateur golf tournaments.

Why do you think WICT is important?

You get to meet like-minded women, who help keep you informed on what’s going on in our industry. It offers opportunities to develop new skills, expand your network and it allows all of us to give back to the community. At the end of the day being in WICT will absolutely make you feel good as a person because you are surrounded by amazing people.

What do you hope to see the WICT GO chapter accomplish this year?

I would certainly like to see increased membership, because the impact on our lives and careers can be so beneficial. Also, for our current members, I hope to see more people involved in planned events and community events outside of the workplace.
