"As Executive Director of WIG, I’ve been able to work with and for remarkable and courageous women political leaders, stakeholders and staff. Your engagement has propelled WIG to a record number of legislators and states engaged and has inspired timely and potent policy programming and resources. I am proud of my contributions to an organization with such a venerable past and a bright future. I know that WIG is in very good hands with Nancy Todd, past Chair of WIG, at the helm as Interim Executive Director and that Women In Government will achieve great things in the future."

Remarks from WIG Leadership Regarding the Transition:
"Lucy joined us four years ago and she was the right woman at the right time for Women In Government. With her steadfast leadership at our DC office, WIG became stronger and thrived even as the number of women state legislators, whom we serve, grew to a record high. I wish Lucy the best in her Reinvention Adventure.
I am thankful to have former WIG Chair Sen. Nancy Todd pause her retirement and return to serve as our Interim Executive Director. We will not miss a beat in our exciting adventure of searching for the next Executive Director along with a strong and supportive Business Council."
Washington State Representative Cindy Ryu
Chair, WIG Board of Directors
"As Vice Chair, past Treasurer and former Western Regional Director on the Board, I am proud of all that Women In Government has accomplished in the last few years. We are stronger than ever and poised to serve a record number of women state legislators in tandem with our Business Council and other stakeholders. I sincerely thank Lucy Gettman for her years of service as Executive Director and welcome Nancy Todd, Past Chair of WIG, as Interim Executive Director. Her deep knowledge of the organization will keep us moving forward while we select the next leader."
Hawaii State Representative Lauren Matsumoto
Vice Chair, WIG Board of Directors
Women in Government has been blessed with Executive Director Lucy Gettman's leadership and commitment to Women in Government’s goals and objectives of empowering and equipping women legislators across America. Having worked with Lucy during my two years as Chair of Women in Government, I would like to thank her for her excellent work as ED. Lucy brought a vision, work ethic and commitment to WIG that was truly remarkable. Her creativity in keeping WIG relevant during the pandemic has been amazing. I will miss her leadership and will always value our friendship. As Lucy moves on, we are fortunate to have former WIG Chair, Nancy Todd, step up to the Interim Executive Director position. Nancy’s commitment to Women in Government is legendary. She brings years of experience, input and leadership with her to the Interim position. Senator Todd has the skills necessary to guide us through this transition as we continue the mission of Women in Government.
Maine State Senator Stacey Guerin
Immediate Past Chair
Women In Government Board of Directors
As the Business Council Chair, I would like to thank Lucy for her thoughtful leadership, dedication to Women In Government, and her strong support of the Business Council. We are in extraordinary times and yet WIG has never been stronger – with a record number of Business Council members, I see a bright future ahead. The Business Council will continue to collaborate with the Board to ensure we are creating opportunities to help fulfill our mission of educating women state legislators across the country on complex public policy issues.
