The recent WIL event, "Flavors and Co
lor
s of India", was an in
spiring evening of culture and fundraising in memory of Andi Broad, held May 18th at the Culinary
Literacy Center at the Free Library of Philadelphia. For those of you that could not join us with Andi's husband Louis Broad and many other WIL members and guests, the night was overflowing with Indian culture, the memory of Andi and the spirit of WIL. We learned about the Indian Women's Dolls Festival, Navratri, learned how to cook (and enjoy) healthy Indian meals, listened to a talented family of Indian musicians, danced, laughed and enjoyed ourselves as we know Andi would have as well.
We only need approximately $1,500 more to complete the funding for our next village bank in India which will be known as the Andi Broad Village Bank. If you did not yet contribute and want to do so, please make your
donation online or send a check as explained on our website and note "for Andi Broad India Village Bank" in the comment section as soon as possible. We hope you can help us complete the fundraising efforts to create our next village bank to empower women and their families in India.
Thanks to you all of you who already contributed to make the night a wonderful memory for all of us and for continuing the passion for WIL and what we do in Andi's memory! Thanks as well to our special partners to help support us in our efforts which included The Free Library of Philadelphia Culinary Literacy Center and staff, Masala Meals, and our musicians, Surabhe Dhomne.
