WIN: a Taste of Northumberland Hamper just in time for Christmas

It’s another busy week here at Turnbull’s! As we look forward to the inaugural ‘Turnbull’s Taste of Christmas’ evening on Thursday, we’re also celebrating a very special birthday and looking forward to Small Business Saturday!

On Tuesday, long-standing Turnbull’s customer Cissie Shell celebrated her 100^th birthday. We think she’s our longest standing customer having shopped with us for over 70 years.

Cissie was a travelling shop customer for many years and was the first stop every Tuesday morning for Uncle Peter. Cissie would always have a cuppa waiting for Peter’s arrival. She loved feeding the birds and Peter and Cissie would often joke about her birds. And, she’s still feeding them at 100 years young.

We knew Peter would have wanted us to do something special for Cissie, so we decided to send a special birthday buffet lunch for Cissie on her big day, delivered by my Dad John.

This Saturday is ‘Small Business Saturday’, a celebration of small businesses up and down the country. As a small business, our heritage is something we’re all very proud of at Turnbull’s, all made possible through the stories of our wonderful customers like Cissie.

As a small business we always aim to be at the heart of the community and to celebrate this year’s Small Business Saturday, we’re putting on a very special offer and aiming to raise some money for a charity dear to us all.

We’re running a raffle for a ‘Taste of Northumberland’ Food Hamper, with all proceeds from the raffle going to the North Northumberland Hospice – tickets are available from the food hall now at £5 per strip.
