Twitter launched their #PositionOfStrength campaign to empower women to raise their voices against online bullying and discrimination at their NYC Headquarters. Daisy Khan and First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray were among those who spoke.

NYPD Pre-Ramadan Conference

WISE attended the NYPD's Pre-Ramadan conference during which Police Commissioner Bill Bratton reiterated his intolerance for Islamophobic rhetoric and fear-mongering of Muslims by certain politicians, and emphasized that this sort of language makes America less safe. Left Forum - "Islamic State: Responsibility and Response"

Daisy Khan participated in a panel discussion with NYU Professor Arun Kundnani and Rutgers University Professor Abdelhamid Siyam, on how the war in the Middle East fuels terrorism, the alarming rise in Islamophobia, and how ISIS distorts Islamic doctrine, among other topics. The discussion was moderated by Susan Smith of the Community of Living Traditions at Stony Point Center and the Muslim Peace Fellowship.

Experts' Workshop on The Role of Families in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism

Daisy Khan participated in a panel discussion on the role that parents can play in preventing and countering extremism based on past approaches and current efforts with fellow speakers, Dr. Edit Schlaffer, Founder and Executive Director of Women Without Borders, and Mai E'liemat, Director of Research and Fundraising at Al Hayat Center. The workshop was co-hosted by Hedayah and the Global Counterterrorism Forum.

The U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program hosted Daisy Khan to discuss WISE's work in countering Islamophobia and extremism with 23 international students/faculty from Pakistan, Finland, Switzerland, and Kuwait, who are participants in the Multi-Regional, P2P: Challenging Extremism.
