May is Mental Health Month

Mental Health Awareness Month is a national campaign that takes place during the month of May. It aims to raise awareness about mental health, fight stigma, provide support , educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their families. It is a time to remember that your mental health is essential to your overall health and that you are not alone in your struggles or recovery.

BrightLife Kids developed by BrightLine and the California Department of Health Services offers personalized support for California families with children ages 0-12. Parents can access free, expert coaching for sleep issues, worry, social skills, live, 1:1 video sessions, secure chat, on-demand content, and so much more. BrightLife Kids


The Soluna App is an innovative virtual behavior health program, developed through a collaboration between the California Department of Health Services and Kooth. The Soluna App will provide youth and young adults (ages 13-25) with immediate access to a comprehensive mental health toolkit, community support. resources, digital journaling, and personal coaching - all at no cost to the user, their parents, or their school. Reset & Recharge: A Virtual Summer Program for Students


Center for Human Development

Empowerment Program with Center for Human Development provides LGBTQIA+ youth with weekly non-clinical support groups helping to build self esteem, pride, healthy support networks, and gain the motivation to complete their education. They can also provide culturally appropriate referrals to additional support services and mental health services. CHD provides a spectrum of wellness and prevention services touching on each spectrum of identity.


Empowerment Program has weekly rotating support groups for LGBTQIA Youth in East County Ages 12-18, 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at Brentwood United Methodist Church 4:30-6:30pm. 2nd and 4th Tuesdays we are at 430 Railroad Ave in Pittsburg CA 4:30-6:30pm They also have a virtual option for anyone unable to attend in person! On Monday, May 20 at 6:00PM, join a panel of local experts, including a family physician, parent navigator, and mental health clinician, as they discuss:


  • how addiction/substance use disorder impacts teens
  • risk and warning signs
  • how to support young people struggling with use
  • resources available


The event will be held in English with simultaneous Spanish translation and closed captioning additional languages.
