WISPA-PAC Mid-Year Update

             2022

MID-YEAR UPDATE

WISPA PAC, the nonpartisan political action committee of the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA), is the only federal PAC dedicated to advancing the interests of the fixed wireless Internet service provider industry. WISPA PAC increases the industry’s visibility in our Nation’s Capital and enhances WISPA’s ability to build longstanding relationships with elected leaders who recognize the benefits of FWA to their communities and the nation, or are open to engaging in productive dialogue about the challenges and opportunities our members face in the current political and policy environment.

WISPA PAC is the only federal PAC dedicated to advancing the interests of the fixed wireless Internet service provider industry.

Despite the continued COVID-19 pandemic, and the challenges it has brought to communities and WISPs across the country, WISPA PAC is making important strides in 2022 to support the industry. With a revitalized strategy around peer-to-peer fundraising and a renewed commitment to supporting federal candidates that recognize the promise of fixed wireless, WISPA PAC is helping the industry increase the impact of its voice in Washington.

As Congress continues to debate critical issues around infrastructure, broadband access, spectrum allocations, tax rates for businesses and much more, a robust and well-funded PAC remains critically important to ensuring that WISPs are able to continue to operate successful businesses and serve their customers.

Receipts

In the 2021-22 congressional election cycle to date, WISPA PAC has raised $39,375.00 from 24 individual donors.

Donations to WISPA PAC have come at all levels, from $50 to $5,000, and from all parts of the country.

Under federal law, contributions to WISPA PAC are completely voluntary, and the PAC is not permitted to solicit WISPA non-members (or corporations or affiliates) for contributions, nor can WISPA redirect annual dues to WISPA PAC. As a result, WISPA PAC relies fully on the generosity of eligible donors. Fully 100% of WISPA PAC’s annual receipts come from voluntary contributions made by WISPA members and employees.

Disbursements

WISPA PAC is non-partisan and supports the primary and general election campaigns of both Republican and Democratic candidates for U.S. Congress (House and Senate) who support or are open to supporting the principles of our industry. WISPA PAC also supports favorable candidates who hold positions in leadership or on congressional committees whose jurisdiction includes issues and areas which are critical to WISPA’s members. WISPA PAC neither contributes to nor endorses presidential candidates.

In the first half of 2022, WISPA PAC has contributed $38,500 to the campaigns of 12 members of Congress. Most recipients either served on one of the key committees of jurisdiction for WISPA-priority issues or are members of congressional leadership.

These contributions were delivered to candidates directly by WISPA members or WISPA staff, giving them the opportunity to engage in insightful interactions, often times in small group settings.

Supported candidates are currently assigned to the following Committees of Jurisdiction:
