President's Message
Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2020. I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with their family and friends. I was fortunate to spend Christmas with my daughter and her husband in Montana where we enjoyed a white Christmas. It was fun and relaxing to have some down time.

What a fabulous time we had at the Annual Holiday Party and WMCMA Gives Back at the Museum of Flight. I hope everyone was able to take advantage of touring the museum. It was great to see everyone having fun with the bidding on the auction items and raffles. Everyone was so generous during the silent auction and raffle and we raised $2654 for the Alzheimer's Association. Roxanne Gossard was an excellent speaker and it's wonderful to support an organization that is passionate about research and treatment of disease that is so devastating. The food that was donated was taken to the Whidbey Island Food Bank. Thanks to Laura Opson who delivered the food and to all who were generous to donate.

As I reflect on the past year WMCMA had some challenges however as case managers we rallied and had a successful year. We were creative in February by attending an all virtual meeting due to the snow. We had 3 successful conferences and 5 enlightening lunch and learns.

We are planning for 2020 and have several topics in the pipeline and the plans for the Spring Conference are underway. If you have ideas for a topic of interest, please email us at [email protected]. We are excited to be at 2 new venues this year MBK at Northgate and Madison House in Kirkland. Our Spring conference will be at the Embassy Suites in Tukwila. The August mini conference will be held at Warm Beach and Fall conference will be at the Lynnwood Convention Center.

My term as president has come to an end and as I reflect on the past two years it has been an honor to serve as your president of such a great professional organization. I will still be an active participant both locally and nationally. As case managers we need to promote the profession of case management.
As I close, I want you to ponder on this challenge: Take a moment and reflect on how you treat others in your life, not just those closest to you but everyone.
See you at the next meeting.

Sincerely,

Kathy Parry, RN BSN CCM
WMCMA Past President 2018-2019
The Changing of the Guard. Meet Your New WMCMA 2020-2022 President

Laura Opson, RN-D, LNCC, CCM
Happy 2020 Case Managers, WMCMA Members, Supporters and Sponsors!

As I take of the gavel, thank you all for your support in professional Case Management and certification.
As we move to 2020, I reflect on the educational goals accomplished by WMCMA in 2019.  WMCMA sponsors two, full day conferences and one mini, half day conference each year, six Lunch-and-Learns and one holiday giving event.
Did you know if you attend all WMCMA events, you would obtain upward of 20 CEUs applicable to your Case Management certification and many of those apply to your other certifications including Registered Nurse and Social work.  While we hope each of you can attend the conferences and Lunch-and-Learns in person, you can also attend by phone and still earn the same credits.
WMCMA and CMSA have always been the voice of the Professional Case Manager.  Our Hats are off to the many talented Case Managers.  WMCMA would not be what it is today without our members, Committee Chairs and board members and volunteers.  Let's make 2020 our best year by starting with marking your calendars for our meetings and conferences here in the northwest but also for the CMSA Annual National Conference, June 28 to July 2, in "Bean Town", Boston, MA.
Looking forward to seeing you on January 9, 2020 and beyond!

WMCMA GIVES BACK Was Such a JOY!

What a great turnout at the Annual Holiday Party and Charity Auction, WMCMA GIVES BACK! Thank you to all that participated and shared in making this event a success by attending and bringing silent auction and raffle auction items. We had more donations than we have ever had and over $2600 was raised for our charity recipient The Alzheimer's Association of WA.
