March 2019 President's Message
Happy Spring. The longer days and sunshine has changed my mood. I have been able to get out and start cleaning out the garden. The crocuses are up in my flower box and the daffodils are popping up in the yard.

The luck of the Irish was not with us for March. Dr. Chowdhary had an emergency so was unable to speak. He has offered to speak later in the year so stayed tuned for an upcoming date. As case managers we are flexible, and I am thankful for the understanding for the challenges we have had the last couple of months.

On a high note, we have a great topic for April on Multiple Myeloma. We will be at the Lynnwood Convention Center on April 11. If you had signed up for the March meeting, we will move your registration to April. If you are unable to attend the April meeting, we will move the registration to either September or November or you can ask for a refund.

The registration for the Spring Conference is in full swing. This is a great opportunity to network with your colleagues and gain information on new and emerging case management trends. Jose Alejandro the current CMSA president will be speaking on the future of case management. Jose is an engaging speaker and has a wealth of information to share. Our own Laura Opson will be speaking on legal aspects of case management and you will earn an Ethics CE for her talk. Our other speakers from Touch Bionics and Osiris will present trends in stem cell research and prosthetic and amputee developments.

We continue to plan events for 2019 and into 2020. If you have ideas let me or anyone on the board know. You can email us at  [email protected]

As I close, I want to reflect on the setbacks we had over this past two months with the meetings by sharing the following quote:

Life is more than setbacks, and it's not static. Appreciate and respect where you are now. But let yourself move to the next level when it's time. Celebrate your breakthroughs when they come. Listen to that quiet voice, that fleeting thought that says, Why don't you...?, even if it's something you've never done before.

Thanks for taking the time to read the newsletter and I hope to see you at the April meeting.

Sincerely,
Kathy Parry, BSN, RN, CCM
WMCMA Board President 2018-2019

 "WMCMA March Meeting Cancelled"

T hank you for understanding patient care is the priority for Dr. Chowdhary.

Feedback:
Thank you for understanding.  As much as we look forward to the topics, networking, and continuing education, it was great to hear the feedback of understanding and compassion for Dr. Chowdhary's patient and his prioritization of patient's need over speaking at the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you all this fall to hear Dr. Chowdhary's speak about the Sacroiliac Joint!

Guest Speaker: Abhineet Chowdhary, MD, Director of Neurosurgery and Neuro-Interventional Surgery, Overlake Medical Hospital
