Message from the Principal
Happy October to our WMS families,

What an exciting couple of weeks it has been at the middle school. It was wonderful to see so many of you at our annual Back-to-School Nights. Our teachers were thrilled to be able to share their passion for teaching and learning with you. We feel incredibly grateful to the PTO for feeding us dinners both evenings. The meals were truly delicious.

Our AM and PM Wellness programs have become instant middle school favorites this school year. Interscholastic sports are up and running as well. Rehearsals for The Rememberer  are already in full swing. Select music auditions have taken place, and most clubs have kicked off. Afternoons are certainly hopping at WMS.

Eighth grade students have dressed for success as they engaged in a government simulation off campus at the Edward M. Kennedy Center. In stark contrast, they have also gotten down and dirty as geologists spelunking in caves. Our Rachel and Carson house leaders are preparing to take our seventh grade students to a high ropes course and engage in our in-house Day of Wonder experience. Finally, many sixth graders are practicing biking around our center island as the Walden bike trip is on the horizon.

It has been a privilege to launch the year with this group of students, and I look forward to partnering with you throughout the year ahead.

Respectfully,
Betsy Gavron

WMS Clubs

A full list of club offerings is now available on the Middle School's website. Click here for the link. As a reminder, students are not permitted to remain at school after dismissal unless they are participating in a club, program, or other activity supervised by a teacher or staff member.
Catch Up and Breathe Weekends

"Catch Up and Breathe (CUB)" Weekends were developed in response to concerns about student stress. CUB Weekends were conceived to be about mentoring students about how to take healthy pauses in life. We all need time to reconnect, recharge, and regroup, and these weekends were designed to be chances to do exactly that. Click here for a link to the WMS website for CUB weekend dates.

WMS PTO Donations in Action: Equipping our Teachers to Enrich the Student Experience

At our back-to -school nights, many teachers mentioned how grateful they are to WMS PTO for providing them with valuable classroom tools and materials. One teacher stated, “the materials given to us by the PTO has made it possible for us to try new areas and teach new things that we would not have been able to do otherwise.“ The PTO is aligned with the educational mission as shared by Principal Gavron, and proud to be able to fulfill teacher requests for materials that help keep their classrooms vibrant and ever-changing. Please help us by donating to Gift Your Child .
