HHS Releases Rural Action Plan

The Department of Health and Human Service released a Rural Action Plan, the first HHS-wide assessment of rural healthcare efforts in nearly two decades. This action plan will serve as a roadmap for HHS to enhance rural healthcare in the US. Eighteen HHS agencies and offices took part in developing the plan, which includes 71 new or expanded activities for FY 2020 and beyond. Efforts that will be undertaken in FY 2020 include: nine new rural-focused administrative or regulatory actions three new rural-focused technical assistance efforts 14 new rural research efforts five new rural program efforts These efforts build on 94 new rural-focused projects the HHS Rural Task Force identified as having launched over the past three years. Wyoming Public Health Lab Updates

Important Changes to COVID-19 Testing: Wyoming Public Health Laboratory (WPHL) announced that due to supply shortages out of WPHL control, the lab must return to using the former method for SARS-CoV-2 assay. Results will return to a single result for SARS-CoV-2.  Ordering of SARS-CoV-2 testing thought WPHL's Laboratory Web Portal will not change.  Click For More Information

Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Regional Coordinator Request for Application The Wyoming Department of Health, Chronic Disease Prevention Program, is accepting applications for two (2) regional contractors throughout Wyoming to coordinate chronic disease prevention and management at the regional level. The purpose of this competitive application process is to select two (2) regional sites throughout Wyoming to support the CDPP in implementing evidence-based strategies to prevent and manage cardiovascular disease (CVD), specifically hypertension and high cholesterol, in high-burden communities. The anticipated contract term will be from January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. Applications must be received by 11:59 PM Mountain Standard Time on September 28, 2020.
