Parent Drop-Off Lane
If you transport your child to the middle school, please remember that you're expected to utilize the parent drop off lane. This is for the safety of our students and to avoid vehicle accidents. Recently observed practices parents need to cease are:
  • Bypassing the parent drop off line and pulling into the thru lane of the parent drop off area and parking to drop off your student. Parents that have just dropped off their student utilizing the appropriate curb lane need to access this thru lane should they have to go north on 116th street.
  • Bypassing the parent drop off line / lane and pulling to the curb of 116th street to drop off your student. This disrupts and blocks the southbound traffic flow on 116th.
  • Pulling into the parking lot and dropping off your student. This disrupts bus traffic that is consistent between 7:20am - 7:40am
Please reference the following diagram and adhere to the green routes. The red lines indicate prohibited areas for stopping to drop off your student. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Art Larger: A Collaborative Metal Sculpture Experience

The WMS PTO is excited to sponsor this year’s WMS Artist in Residence Katherine Cannistra. Katherine is a local artist with a background in studio art and immersive exhibit design. She enjoys creating immersive sculptural art that merges technology and nature. She is inspired by evolutionary science, hydroponics, and technological advances in computer learning. She spent 2,600 hours creating a LED sculpture, named Atomic Forest, which is on display at the Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison.

The WMS art project will be a guided experience creating a collaborative wall-hung sculpture for the school.  Over the course of five days the students will participate in forming, inking, and attaching individualized pieces of aluminum to a substructure created specifically for display in the school.

We are still accepting donations for this event and you can send them through our Venmo account at @wmspto5300. If you do not have a Venmo account and would like to donate, please contact us at [email protected]. We appreciate your support!
