Hello WMS Families,

Scheduling for next year's courses will be starting in the next few weeks. Students will be signing up for electives and alternates in Infinite Campus for the 2021-22 school year. At this time High School counselors will be meeting in 8th grade classrooms the week of February 22nd to go over course selection They plan on having a hard copy to be taken home for parent signatures and brought to school the following week. A similar format is planned for 6th and 7th graders. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us. More specific information will be in next Friday's Connect.

Please check out information in this newsletter regarding the virtual presentations the district is offering on the dangers of social media and sexting. The programs take place on Feb. 23 at 6:00 pm and Feb. 25 at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Detailed information in the Connect and below.

Mark your calendars for March 25th for the WMS conferences from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. Conferences will once again be held virtually and by appointment invitation (from staff.) You are always welcome to contact staff about setting up a conference time if an appointment is not required.

Our 8th grade parents are looking to form a committee for 8th grade promotion. If interested, please send an email to and share your interest. Also, with PTO board positions available due to parents moving on to the high school, the PTO is currently looking for parents interested in participating on the Board of Directors for the 2021-2022 school year. The board consists of four positions: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Again, please email the PTO if this is something that would interest you. Thank you to our parent volunteers for all you do!

  • Please remind your student to come to school with their mask. If possible, be sure your child has an extra mask in their backpack or locker if needed.

Bryan Wright Virtually Presents:
The Dangers of Social Media and Sexting
Whitnall is thrilled to be offering two virtual presentations on the dangers of social media and sexting from Bryan Wright, the owner of Dynamic Family Solutions LLC. Over the last 12 years, Bryan has worked as a youth / teen advocate. He hopes to share the information and knowledge gained through his research and work experience to address these important issues families and youth are facing today.
In this presentation, Bryan will touch on the following topics:
  • Identity development, and awareness of hypersexualization in today's society and how it impacts youth's decision making
  • The influences and risks of social media and the dangers of sexting
  • What are preventative measures parents can take to promote safe technology use?
  • The importance of having open conversations with youth and setting healthy boundaries
These presentations will cover sensitive matters, and are intended for a mature audience. Please be mindful of your audience at home while in attendance, as the information discussed may include language that is not appropriate for young children.
