Hello WMS Families,

Here is to wishing everyone well as we finish month of February and move into March!

Please check below for information on course selection for incoming 6th grade students and for our current students as they move into 7th and 8th grade next year.

If you were unable to access or attend Bryan Wright's Zoom presentations this week on social media and sexting, please know that recordings of the presentations and his powerpoint will be provided in next week's Connect.

Please note that March 22 is the end of progress period 3. On March 25th there is an opportunity to connect with teachers from 4:00pm - 7:00pm during our middle school conferences.

Course Selection
INCOMING 7TH & 8TH GRADE STUDENTS:
Students chose elective classes for next year in their Connect classes this week. Please review their selections in Infinite Campus and if you want to revise choices please do so by March 3rd. Instructions are located here. You can also review Course Selection materials for 7th grade here and 8th grade here.
INCOMING 6TH GRADE STUDENTS;
Whitnall Middle School Pupil Services will be visiting with 5th graders the week of March 1st about next year's schedule. We will review what the classes will be and ask them to select a Music Option. Please follow up in Infinite Campus and ensure they have the correct music choice by March 3rd. Yearbook Orders
You can now place an order for your yearbook at VIP’s website by clicking here.  
This year all yearbook orders will be placed online, and the deadline for ordering is April 1st - please be sure to place your order before this time. When it’s complete, your yearbook will be delivered directly to school. For questions or additional information please email support@vipis.com.

Box Tops Collection
If you've been shopping online for groceries lately, you can still earn BoxTops for your school, even if you don't have a paper receipt. Scanning tip: You can use the "Give Credit" feature in the BoxTops app to give credit to a specific child, teacher or classroom every time you scan a receipt. Just look for the star button!

Canvas and Infinite Campus
Hello Whitnall families,
We just wanted to remind you that you can continue monitoring your children's daily progress and communication from teachers through Canvas. Canvas allows parents to view course content, student work and teacher feedback for all of their students with one login.

Infinite Campus is continuing to be used for progress reporting, attendance, and district messaging. 

The Whitnall website provides online tutorials that can help families better understand how to navigate our online platforms. Please see the links below for more information:

Student Absences: .
Please report your students absence to the school by 8:00 a.m. You may use the Absence Reporting Form or call the attendance line at 414-525-8650. .
No call and no note will result in the absence being recorded as truancy. If a student has a medical/dental appointment, we encourage you to provide an excuse from the provider.

Appointments/Planned Absences
If your student has an appointment, special event, leaving early, etc. Please contact the office prior to the event so we can have your student waiting for you in the office. You may use the Absence Reporting Form or call the attendance line at 414-525-8650. . If the student will be gone more than two days, please utilize the Planned Absence Form


Pick Up & Drop Off Information
As shared previously - busing and car drop-off/pick-up have been adjusted to decrease congestion near the Edgerton intersection where many students cross. While it may take some time to adjust we appreciate your patience with us and one another.

Does your child's device need repairs? 
Please contact https://helpdesk.whitnall.com/portal to arrange for a loner device. With advance notice, device swap out could take place at the same times as device pick up.

The technology department is offering additional, evening times for students and families to swap out devices for repairs. Monday, November 16 and Monday, November 23 from 3:30-5:30 PM, the team will be available to swap out devices at the high school’s main entrance. Prior to coming, please submit a Help Desk Ticket by visiting https://helpdesk.whitnall.com/portal.
 
If at any time during instruction you are not able to access the classroom link, or lose access during instruction please contact the WMS main office at 414-525-8660 or dmjones@whitnall.com .

8th grade parents - we are in the process of forming a committee for 8th grade promotion at the end of the year. Looking for parents interested in planning a celebration for the students. With COVID restrictions we will need to be creative this year. If you are interested in participating, please send an email to wmspto@whitnall.com.
 
WMS PTO Board of Directors - The PTO is currently looking for parents interested in participating on the Board of Directors for the 2021-2022 school year. The board consists of four positions: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. For the 2021-2022 school year we will have some open positions that we are looking to fill. If you are interested in volunteering or just getting more information, please email wmspto@whitnall.com.
