The Statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE), known as the Wyoming Frontier Information (WYFI) Exchange, is excited to announce our new connection with the eHealth Exchange.
The eHealth Exchange, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is among the oldest and largest health information networks in America and is most well-known as the principal way the federal government shares data between agencies and with the private sector. The eHealth Exchange network, which is working in 75 percent of all U.S. hospitals, is leveraged by more than 30 electronic health record (EHR) technologies and 60 regional or state health information exchanges (HIEs). Five federal agencies (Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, Indian Health Service (IHS), Food and Drug Administration, and Social Security Administration) participate in the network to share patient information with private-sector partners as well as other agencies. The eHealth Exchange supports the secure exchange of patient records for over 250 million patients in the U.S. For more information please visit https://ehealthexchange.org/
WYFI participants may access additional records for patients from the eHealth Exchange when logged into the Community Health Record (CHR) by selecting the "Find External Documents” option within the Documents screen of the patient record. If there are available documents, you will have the option of selecting additional Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs) and may then view the documents.
This additional information will provide a more complete patient record for the WYFI users. We know participating users will find this new option helpful in accessing the complete patient record. Please reach out to the WYFI team at wdh-wyfi-hie@wyo.gov with any questions.
