Message from the PTA President, Dave Badanes

Hi everyone!

I can’t believe we’re already in week two of school. Summer is over, though my middle school science teacher would remind me it doesn’t technically end until the autumnal equinox. :) Tell that to the backpacks and homework already piling up.

It’s been so nice meeting so many of you at PALS Day and out in the community these past couple weeks.

As a reminder, if you’re looking to get more involved, our General Membership meeting is Tuesday, 9/16 at 7pm in the library. Hope to see many of you there!

Back to School Night follows the next week on 9/24, where the PTA will have a presence.

Spirit wear sales are also open now, and a portion of every purchase goes right back to the PTA — more details below.

Restaurant night is coming soon too, and we have more details on that below as well.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who made both of these happen!

We still have named roles open, and we are always looking for volunteers to join the Executive Council. If you're interested, please reach out to me at president@wmspta.org.

YHS Band and Color Guard Door-to-Door Fundraiser - Be on the Lookout! - Sept. 19

Student members of the award-winning Yorktown band and color guard ensembles will be

in YHS zoned neighborhoods on Saturday, September 19, to solicit donations for our band

programs. Please consider donating, as many of our middle school children will soon be

growing into this program! Every donation directly supports:

• Financial assistance for ALL students to participate in the band programs and trips, regardless of need
• Purchase of instruments, music, uniforms, and equipment
• Maintenance of instruments, equipment, and uniforms
• Professional musicians to run clinics with students
• Band and Color Guard ensemble transportation needs throughout the year
