"Now that you are here, we are a better school."

I came across this sentence a few days ago, a short sentence that packs a lot of meaning.

Now that you are all here, we are a better school. This is true of students, families, teachers and all those who have been a part of our community this year and every year in WMS’s history.

As we approach the final days of the school year, culminating in graduation this Friday, it is a time to offer gratitude and warm wishes to everyone who is a part of our community. You make WMS a better school for all of us. Thank you for trusting us with your children at a time when it may have been very difficult to do so. Thank you for asking questions and offering suggestions to make us even better. Thank you for adapting to changes and standing alongside us during the unknowns that were around every corner. Thank you for your kindness, smiles and warm wishes throughout the year.

WMS is who we are because of you. We are a strong community, living Dr. Montessori’s vision each day. That vision begins with respect, honor and care for the children who we hold at the center of each decision we make and everything we do.

As the 2021-22 school year comes to a close, we wish you a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you in the fall!

Year-End Reminders

As you prepare for summer fun and relaxation, here are a few quick reminders to end the school year:

Bloomz

Please make sure you have downloaded any photos you would like to save from your child's Bloomz portfolio before June 15. If your child is moving to a new classroom/program level or leaving WMS, you may not have access to their photos after this date! Please contact Noel Dietrich with any questions about this!

Keycards

If you are not returning to WMS in the fall and have a WMS keycard (from the 2019-20 school year!), please return it in an envelope addressed to Noel Dietrich with your family's name on it. You can hand it to a staff member at drop-off or pick-up. Thank you!

Re-enrollment/Ongoing Communications

If you have not yet re-enrolled for the 2022-23 school year, please do so as soon as possible. Following the last week of school, we will be sending communications (including this newsletter) only to re-enrolled families and those attending camp. If you are not returning to WMS but would like to remain on our email list, please email noel_dietrich@wmsde.org.

Magnus

Thank you to everyone who has completed Magnus Health requirements so far!

Camp Families: Campers' health forms are now past due - please be sure to complete your child's requirements as soon as possible to allow them to begin camp as scheduled.

Other Families: Health forms for families returning in the fall are due on July 1.

Year-End Updates - Final Testing Date and Return to Mask-Optional Status

As we prepare for the end of the school year, we thank all of our families for helping keep our community healthy. From morning car-line screenings to masks and COVID testing, all of your efforts made a difference as we worked to provide our students with the best learning experience possible through the continuing pandemic. A few year-end reminders:

Testing - Our final on-site testing day with Quidel will be Tuesday, June 7. Please forward your results to covidresults@wmsde.org. You may also send off-site results (taken on or after June 1) to this email address.

Masking Update - Due to the number of special events and visitors on our campus this week, we will continue to mask through Friday, June 3 and return to a mask-optional status on Monday, June 6.

Policies & Procedures

WMS's COVID-19 policies are based on guidelines from the CDC and State of Delaware Department of Education Office of Child Care Licensing. We continue to monitor those sources for information to adjust our policies and practices as needed.

The Wednesday Weekly shares WMS news and events that are relevant to the families in our community.
