A New Beginning

When you follow a school schedule, whether as a student or a teacher, you get the benefit of two new years, two beginnings – one in September and another in January. As we prepared to open the doors for another school year, WMS’s 60th year of educating children, the energy of this school year’s new beginning is palpable. Families joined us this week for the back to school picnic, gathering to greet newcomers and to catch up with old friends. Smiles (and a few tears) accompanied families as they brought their children into the building on the first day of school yesterday.

This year will be filled with reminders of the 60 years that brought WMS to this point. As true Montessorians, we will continue to honor and respect the past as we move solidly into the future. As a dynamic organization we will continue to reflect on our practices – learning, growing and adapting along the way. As a school founded on Montessori principles, we will continue to evolve and incorporate not only the fundamentals of Montessori education, but also the current academic and neuroscientific research that confirms what Dr. Montessori knew so many years ago. We have and will continue to build on the practices that have served children for decades.

As your family settles into the new year, we welcome you. We look forward to partnering with you. We are eager to join you as you delight in your child’s growth and development throughout the year. There will be lots of opportunities for us to come together and celebrate not only WMS’s 60th year, but to also celebrate the wonder and joy your children bring with them each and every day.

Back-to-School/Curriculum Nights - Mark your calendars!

Mark your calendars for our Back-to-School/Curriculum Nights, where you'll have an opportunity to hear more from your children's teachers about their plans for the upcoming school year and learn more about our three-year cycles, known as the Montessori Planes of Development.

Thank you for helping us get the 2023-24 school year off to a wonderful start! Here are a few reminders for new and returning families. As always, please let us know if you have any questions!

Keycard Orders

Each family has been issued two keycards that will allow them to enter the building through the front door after drop-off time. If you would like to order additional keycards for a family member or caregiver, please submit this form. You can order two additional cards for $5 each. Your $5 fee will be processed through your FACTS account.

Bloomz

At WMS, Bloomz is our primary tool for parent-teacher communication. If you are having difficulty with your account, please contact Noel Dietrich for assistance! We highly recommend downloading the Bloomz App and turning on notifications to stay up-to-date on the latest news and messages from your child's class!

Pick-up Changes & Emergency Alerts

WMS's authorized pick-up list is now managed through FACTS. Please log into your account to add or remove individuals authorized to pick-up your child from school. You can also use FACTS to update your emergency alert contacts, which are used in the case of an unexpected school closing, delay or other urgent notifications.

Medical Information & Allergies

Please check FACTS to confirm that your child's up-to-date health appraisal, immunizations and allergies are in the system. If you have questions, please contact nurse@wmsde.org. Thank you!

#WMSbacktoschool Photo Challenge

Our annual back-to-school photo challenge is underway and there's still time to submit your images! Post your favorite back-to-school shopping, family picnic, summer homework, campus visit or first-day-of-school photos on Instagram using #wmsbacktoschool and #WMS60years by the end of the day on Friday, and you'll be entered to win some WMS swag.
