Wrapping Up a Summer of Fun, Friendship & Learning

Dear Families,

As the sun begins to set a little earlier each evening, we find ourselves nearing the close of another wonderful summer camp season. Watching our campers immerse themselves in exciting activities, forge new friendships and discover new interests has been an absolute joy. Experiencing the thrill of learning new skills myself during archery camp reminded me just how fun, and funny, participating in new activities can be! It certainly requires a good deal of focus and a good sense of humor to move through the process of learning, failing and practicing as one makes their way toward mastering a new skill. 

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every Camp Montessori family for entrusting us with your children this summer. We have loved every moment and are happy to provide a camp setting in which children can participate in a variety of activities, some familiar and some new to them, and where happy memories are made. Your children were in excellent hands with our enthusiastic and fun-loving camp counselors who have cherished every minute spent guiding campers through their summer adventures. 

As we shift our focus to the upcoming school year, I am excited for the many opportunities that lie ahead. The classroom doors will soon open, and we will be welcoming back familiar faces and eagerly greeting new ones. Our dedicated teachers and staff, some of whom have worked throughout the summer at Camp Montessori, are already preparing for another memorable year of learning, growth and achievement.

A special mention must be made of Mariah Spencer, who is wrapping up her first year as WMS’s camp director. Her dedication and passion for creating an enriching and enjoyable camp experience as well as her eagerness to get to know each and every camper have been evident in every detail. We are incredibly grateful to both Mariah and Barb Trotto for all of the work they put in to ensure our campers enjoyed a summer full of fun. Mariah will transition to her role as PE teacher and Extended Day program coordinator as the school year begins, and we will look forward to reuniting with our beloved camp counselors next summer for many more adventures.

As we transition from summer to the 2024-25 school year, I hope that your children carry forward the joy, friendships and confidence they gained during camp into their school days, whether they will be attending WMS or another school come September. Thank you once again for your support and for being a part of Camp Montessori. We can’t wait to see our WMS students back in school and hear all about their summer fun!
