Thank you for helping us reach our goal!

On behalf of our entire school community, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all current WMS families who participated in our recent Annual Fund Match Challenge.

Because of your incredible generosity and commitment, we surpassed our goal by having more than 100 families take part in this initiative, which unlocked a matching gift of $7,500 from Nancy Karibjanian and Joseph Nemecz, WMS grandparents and parents of three alumni. Your support and your willingness to take on this challenge to ensure the goal was met by the end of Giving Tuesday was truly amazing.

As you know, our school was founded by parents, and family engagement has continued to be an integral part of the WMS experience over the past 60 years. The funds raised by current families through this challenge will directly support our ability to do what we do best: offer a stimulating learning environment that matches the development of toddlers through adolescents, continually adapt to the changing academic and individual needs of today’s students, and create a close-knit community where life-long friendships, for students and families alike, can be created.

Your contributions, both financial and in spirit, empower us to continue making strides toward excellence in every aspect of our school.

NEWS & NOTES

Kindergarten Winter Warmth Drive - December 4-16

Did you know that our kindergarteners are organizing a winter clothing drive? Their efforts begin today!

The students brainstormed a list of essential winter clothing items that help us stay warm during the colder months and created colorful, thoughtful signs to raise awareness throughout the school.

The drive will support Volunteering With Love, a local organization dedicated to providing much-needed resources to children and families living in hotels during the winter months. While Volunteering With Love offers a variety of support, including food, toys, and coats, our students are focusing on collecting small winter clothing items.

Kindergarten students will monitor the collection boxes placed throughout the school and take the lead in sorting the donated items. They also plan to add a special touch by creating kind notes and drawings to include with some of the donations.

We are currently accepting NEW items for children in all sizes:

Scarves
Ear muffs
Winter hats
Ballcap hats
Gloves and mittens
Socks and underwear

You’ll find a clothesline in the school lobby where you can pin your contributions. We can’t wait to see our “wall of warmth” grow, reflecting the generosity and care of our community.

Rising Primary (3-6) Classroom Visit (for families of Pre-Primary students who will be 3 by 8/31/25) - 9:30 a.m , December 11

Rising Lower Elementary (6-9) Classroom Visit (for current kindergarten families) - 9:30 a.m., December 12

Rising Upper Elementary (9-12) Classroom Visit (for current third-grade families) - 9 a.m., December 11

Rising Middle School Classroom Visit (for current 9-12 families) - 9 a.m., December 12

Please RSVP via Bloomz! Families will earn one co-op hour for attending.

If you are unable to attend at the times above but would like to visit or discuss your child's next level at WMS, please reach out to our admissions team to schedule an alternate time.

Winter After-School Basketball & Yoga Programs - Coming in January

Our winter after-school programs are here!

Starting in January, we’re excited to offer basketball for Elementary and Middle School students and yoga for Primary students.

Basketball will take place in the gym, while yoga will be held in the Great Room. After-school enrichment participants will go directly to after-care when the school day ends, have a snack and then be escorted by staff to their designated activity area.

This year, Jordan Howard will return as our basketball coach for his third year. During the school day, he serves as a teaching assistant in Room 19. The basketball program for 9-12 and Middle School students will include games with other local schools, while the instructional basketball program (for 6-9 students) will focus on developing fundamental skills through drills and activities.

For yoga, we’re thrilled to welcome back Petite Yogi, a company that has previously worked with WMS students of all age. If you have any questions about their program, you can reach them at Hello@PetiteYogi.com.
