NEWS & NOTES

2025-26 Re-enrollment - Let us know your plans!

The re-enrollment deadline for the 2025-26 school year was Friday. If you've already submitted your materials — THANK YOU! We look forward to welcoming your family back to WMS this fall!

If you haven’t re-enrolled yet, please do so as soon as possible. If you have decided your child is not returning to WMSor if you’re unsureplease reach out to the Admissions Office (admissions@wmsde.org) to let us know. You can also open your child’s re-enrollment link and select “Will not enroll.” Several of our programs are nearing capacity, and knowing how many of our current families plan to return allows us to offer admission to new families who are waiting for space. It also helps us plan for staffing and classroom needs across all programs.

A reminder: All returning families must complete re-enrollment through the FACTS Family Portal, even if you have already submitted a financial aid application or accepted a financial aid offer.

Thank you for being part of our WMS community — we appreciate your trust and commitment!

Questions? If you need help with re-enrollment, contact our Admissions Office. For questions about financing your child’s WMS education, reach out to our Business Office.

CO-OP CORNER

Co-op Opportunity - WMS Book Swap

Last February, we hosted our first book swap and it was a great success! We are hoping to build on that success this year with another book swap. If you would like to volunteer to help plan and manage the event (or even to be the event coordinator or co-coordinator), please reach out to Cristin Lettich via Bloomz or email her at cristin_lettich@wmsde.org

Planning and managing the book swap includes collecting and sorting books, setting-up and tearing down the event, volunteering during the event and preparing activities among other things.

The book swap will take place at WMS this spring, but the dates are to be determined. You do not need to be present at the event to help plan.

Co-op Opportunity - Garden Committee

We are looking for some knowledgeable individuals to help with the many gardens around our campus.

Your time will count toward your 25-hour Co-op requirement and can vary based on your schedule.

While we will likely need physical support as well, we are initially looking for volunteers who can offer suggestions and guidance. You do not need to be an expert - even your own home garden experience will help.

If you are interested or have questions, please reach out to Cristin Lettich via Bloomz or email her at cristin_lettich@wmsde.org.

Last Chance This School Year!

Join us on the Journey & Earn Three Hours of Co-op Credit

Tomorrow - Thursday, February 20, 9 a.m. - Noon

Limited spaces available

Whether you're a long-time Wilmington Montessori School parent or just beginning to learn about Montessori education — it is time to step out of the observation room and into the classroom!

Even if you've attended The Journey in the past, there is more to discover each year!

During this event, you will:

  • Personally experience the Montessori educational process and better understand the teaching methods by getting hands-on with Montessori materials.
  • See first-hand how WMS prepares children for success in their educational journey.
  • Learn how each three-year program level builds and supports your child's development from introduction through eighth grade.
  • Open conversations with your child about classroom activities.
  • Realize the positive aspects of learning and succeeding at WMS.
  • Be more prepared to describe the distinction of a Montessori education to friends and family.
  • Earn three Co-op hours!

Important Note - Because of the large amount of interest in this event, advance registration is required. We limit registration to ensure that the group is small enough that all attendees can interact with materials and have their questions answered!

Earn Co-op Hours & Support WMS During Do More 24 Delaware!

March 6-7, 2025

Do More 24 Delaware is just around the corner, and we’re excited to offer Co-op hours to families who create their own WMS fundraiser through the Do More 24 platform!

What is Do More 24?

Do More 24 Delaware is a 24-hour online fundraising event (running from 6 p.m. on March 6 to 6 p.m. on March 7) that brings together nonprofits, donors and businesses to support organizations making an impact in Delaware. The annual event encourages giving by providing matching funds, prizes and incentives to maximize donations, helping local nonprofits like WMS expand our reach and resources in just one day. Donations will go toward our 2024-25 annual fund, which supports:

  • Financial assistance for families.
  • Outdoor learning initiatives.
  • STEAM education and innovative technology.
  • Professional development for teachers.

Incentives:

  • Earn one Co-op hour for creating a personal fundraising page and sharing it on social media to support WMS during the event. Your personal fundraising page can also be texted to friends and family! Please send a screenshot of your social post to co-op@wmsde.org to receive credit!
  • Earn an additional hour for every five unique donors who contribute through your page.
  • As a special bonus, the fundraiser who secures the highest number of donations will win a set of lowball glasses, recipes for three signature WMS-themed cocktails, and a $50 gift certificate generously provided by our friends at Swigg Real Wine Craft Beer & Spirits!

It’s a great way to support WMS while getting closer to completing your Co-op requirement. Ready to get started? Click here to set up your page and set a reminder to give between 6 p.m. on March 6 and 6 p.m. on March 7.

Thank you for helping us make this year’s Do More 24 campaign a success! Please email any questions to giving@wmsde.org!
