Update to Outdoor Masking Policy
Yesterday, camp families received an email outlining changes to our current policy regarding face-coverings on campus.
Based on Governor Carney’s end to Delaware's state of emergency, updated recommendations from the State of Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing and the challenges of dealing with extreme heat outdoors during the summer, the following update was announced:
Children will now be permitted to remove their masks while outdoors and maintaining physical-distancing on the WMS campus. Masks continue to be required for students in preschool (the Pandas) and older and all adults when in the building, per Delaware’s latest emergency declaration, which states that face coverings should be worn “while they are an employee, student or visitor inside any child care home, center or school.” You may prefer your child to continue to wear a mask outdoors. If so, we will issue reminders to your child if they remove their mask; however, WMS cannot place masks on children.
Our administrative team continues to attend presentations and receive updates from the Delaware Department of Education and Office of Child Care Licensing, as well as camp-related organizations, on the best practices for keeping our community safe this summer and beyond. We remain committed to keeping you up-to-date on any changes that may be implemented as we prepare for the 2021-22 school year.
As always, we thank you for your efforts to keep our community safe and healthy.
