Welcome to WMS!

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our new families to WMS this fall! You may already be wondering about the upcoming school year — what you’ll need to prepare for your student and what important dates to mark on your calendar. This summer, we’ll be using this newsletter to share helpful information about what to expect during those first days and weeks, as well as tips for where to find information when you need it.

Mark Your Calendars - Back-to-School Events

Monday, August 25 (5-6:30 p.m.) - Back-to-School Family Picnic

Join the school community for an enjoyable evening and the chance to meet staff members, teachers and other WMS families. More details to follow. 

Tuesday, August 26 - First Day of School

Thursday, September 4 - Primary/Kindergarten Curriculum Night

Tuesday, September 9 - Pre-Primary, Elementary & Middle School Curriculum Night

Curriculum Nights are a great opportunity to learn more about your student’s curriculum, program and daily routines. You won’t want to miss these informative classroom presentations.

Supply Lists & Summer Homework

Supply lists and summer homework will be shared via email and posted on the WMS website by mid-July.

Bloomz

Bloomz is our primary method of classroom communication. It allows teachers and staff to share information, photos and other media with families. All new families will be receiving invitations to Bloomz in the coming weeks and will be able to access their new classrooms on their current Bloomz accounts once placements are shared in August. Please watch for your invitation via email and follow the instructions to set up your account. Once you receive your invitation, please reach out to Noel Dietrich, Director of Marketing & Communications, with any questions!

Keycards

Keycards and family badges will be distributed to enrolled families at the start of the school year (or at the start of your child’s camp week, if attending Camp Montessori). Safety and security are top priorities at Wilmington Montessori School. If your family needs additional keycards, you will be able to order them before the school year begins. If you don't have your keycard, please be aware that you may have to identify yourself as staff get to know you.

Camp Color Wars Updates

The Kangaroos have jumped into the lead with the winning boat design and the highest participation in our first Fun Friday — animal dress-up day! The Turtles are just one point behind, and all groups will have a chance to earn more points tomorrow by participating in Costume Day. Be sure to check the leaderboard in the lobby for the latest standings!

Camp Physical Education with Gerry

Campers (Pandas and up) are having a blast in Monday PE with Gerry! From fun games and silly costumes to learning about their bodies and taking part in Olympic Day, they love this chance to move, play and learn in new ways.
