Welcome to Camp Montessori

Hi Camp Montessori Families,

We’re already halfway through Week 2, and Camp Montessori 2025 is off to a great start. I’m so happy your children are spending their summer with us - we’re looking forward to lots of new adventures, friendships and memorable moments.

Week 1 Highlights

We kicked things off with a fantastic first week. Campers got to explore the woods, learn their way around their camp classrooms and meet their counselors. Many groups spent time outside on nature walks, scavenger hunts and even planting seeds. In the classrooms, we played “get to know you” games and gave campers a chance to feel comfortable and connected in their new spaces.

We wrapped up the week with our Welcome Assembly! Each camp room created a banner showing off their designated group color, which they proudly revealed at the assembly, officially kicking off our summer of Color Wars. Campers received fun-colored glasses, and we ended with a big dance party in the Peace Park. Color Wars will continue all summer long, with groups earning points through activities and challenges. At the end of camp, the winning group will take home the trophy… and we’ll have a celebration for everyone!

Here’s a quick reminder of our Color Wars teams:

  • Turtles - Blue
  • Pandas - Red
  • Kangaroos - Yellow
  • Tigers - Green
  • Meerkats/Dragons - Purple

Looking Ahead

We’ve got so many exciting things planned over the next few weeks! Here are a few important reminders and updates to help keep everything running smoothly:

  • Camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Before-care starts at 7:30 a.m. and is included in your registration.
  • Campers not picked up by 3:30 will be sent to after-care and billed if not already registered.
  • Camp will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
  • All camp classrooms are nut-free - please help us keep our campers safe!
  • Make sure your Bloomz account is set up before your child’s session starts. This is our main way of communicating with families during camp (and the school year). If you need help or would like to have an additional family member invited, please reach out to Noel Dietrich, Director of Marketing & Communications, at noel_dietrich@wmsde.org.
  • If you need to reach your child’s group during the camp day, please call the front desk at 302-475-0555. Counselors may not see Bloomz messages while they're busy with campers.
  • If you haven’t already, please submit a Medication Administration Record (MAR) form for any sunscreen, bug spray, or other topical ointments you'd like us to apply during the day.

Thank you for sharing your amazing campers with us. We’re off to a great start and can’t wait for all of the fun still to come!

Warmly,

Mariah Spencer

Camp Emergency Alert System Test - Tuesday at 7 p.m.

We will be running a test of Camp Montessori's emergency alert system on Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. The FinalSite Connect system is used to send urgent updates to families and staff in the case of an unexpected closing or emergency that requires immediate response. All families who are registered for camp this summer should receive phone messages, texts and email alerts during the test.

After this test, if you would like to add additional email addresses or phone numbers to your notifications, please email alert@wmsde.org with the contact information you would like to add. Thank you!
