Year-End Reminders

As you prepare for summer fun and relaxation, here are a few quick reminders to end the school year:

Bloomz

Please make sure you have downloaded any photos you would like to save from your child's class group/Bloomz portfolio before Wednesday, June 11. If your child is moving to a new classroom/program level or leaving WMS, you may not have access to their photos after this date!

Keycards

If you are not returning to WMS in the fall and have a WMS keycard, please return it to the front desk in an envelope labeled with your child's last name on the last day of school, unless your child is attending camp.

Re-enrollment/Ongoing Communications

If you have not yet re-enrolled for the 2025-26 school year, please do so as soon as possible. Following the last week of school, we will be sending communications (including this newsletter) only to enrolled families and those attending camp. If you are not returning to WMS but would like to remain on our email list, please email noel_dietrich@wmsde.org.

Co-op Hours

Please submit all of your Co-op hours through FACTS by the last day of school. We will begin to bill families for incomplete hours the following week. If you have any questions, please reach out to Debbie at the front desk or email co-op@wmsde.org for assistance.

Student News & Activities

Kindergartner Visit the Lower Elementary Classroom for a Hands-On Science Experience

Yesterday, our kindergarten students visited the Lower Elementary (6-9) Program for an exciting hands-on science activity. Led by 6-9 Teacher Melissa Connelly, the children learned all about owls and explored the fascinating world of owl pellets.

Melissa introduced the tools used for dissection and even led the students in a lively “Owl Pellets” song before they got to work. With courage and curiosity, the kindergartners dissected real owl pellets, discovering tiny bones, teeth and even skulls from small birds and rodents.

This visit gave students a glimpse into the kinds of activities they may experience next year as first-graders. They also enjoyed spending time in the 6-9 classroom and were thrilled to take home their favorite "treasures" from the dissection.

As they were leaving, one student exclaimed, “This was so cool! I love this classroom!”—a perfect reflection of the excitement and wonder sparked by this hands-on learning experience.

Meerkat Milers Finish Strong!

The WMS Meerkat Milers Running Club wrapped up their season on Sunday at the final race of the Healthy Kids Running Series!

Throughout the season, runners from first through eighth grade built their sprinting and endurance skills through games, drills and timed races—while also forming friendships across age levels. At the culminating event, every runner crossed the finish line with determination and positivity. Their support for one another and team spirit made WMS proud.

Congratulations to all of our Meerkat Milers, and a big thank you to our amazing parent coaches, Keith Hynson and Steve Jones!
