2021-22 Annual Fund Drive - #WMSoneofakind - NOW through November 12
Dear Families,
In the next few days, you will receive an email from WMS dad David Kubacki, our 2021-22 Annual Fund Chair. In the message, he shares his family's experiences at WMS over the past six years, along with his experiences as an educator, explaining that WMS is a one-of-a-kind school that embraces each child as an individual. With this in mind, our theme for these year's Annual Fund Drive is #WMSoneofakind.
Last year, the annual fund totaled more than $88,000 in gifts from current parents, grandparents, staff, board members and other generous friends of WMS.
Your annual fund gifts in the past have made a difference in countless ways, including:
- Providing financial assistance to families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a WMS education.
- Supporting our teachers’ quests for lifelong learning, including this year's focus on brain-based learning.
- Allowing us to maintain our beautiful 25-acre campus and facilities, which are now being used in ways we never could have imagined!
Your gifts will help to achieve all of those wonderful outcomes, in addition to continuing to support the additional resources WMS needs to provide for the safety and well-being of our families, faculty and staff through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Those of you who have been part of our community for a few years will remember that our Annual Fund Drive is typically a weeklong celebration of giving that takes place in our lobby and includes games, prizes, and opportunities for students, staff, and families to share why they love WMS. This year, because we are unable to connect in person, we are offering a challenge to bring our community together AND opportunities to win prizes:
-
Submit a photo, video or other social media post sharing how WMS has helped your one-of-a-kind child grow or expressing why WMS is a one-of-a-kind school on social media using our #WMSoneofakind hashtag!
-
If your family makes a donation of $25 or more by November 12 AND shares a post with our hashtag, you will be eligible for some special prizes, including spirit wear, Beanie Baby baskets, custom-made WMS masks and more! To enter the drawing, please be sure to tag us on Facebook, Instagram (@WilmingtonMontessori) or Twitter (@wmsde) so we see your post!
-
Donate at least $75 before the end of the drive (Friday, November 12) and receive a limited edition h2go WMS water bottle!
As always, we thank you for all of your support! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

COVID-19 Testing: Next Results Due Next Wednesday, November 10
WMS requires ongoing testing for students and staff, regardless of vaccination status. We are currently requiring testing every two weeks (at minimum).
All students and staff must submit their negative COVID-19 test results (from a test taken on or after today, Wednesday, 11/3) by noon on Wednesday, November 10. Your child will NOT be permitted to attend school on Thursday, November 11 if we do not have their test results.
Important: All tests must be conducted on-site at a testing location - no at-home test results will be accepted. If your results are forwarded after noon on the due date, you may experience a delay in drop-off the next morning. A last-minute result may delay or prevent your child from attending school; time must be allowed for communication to the staff members conducting screenings in the car line.
Results should be emailed to covidresults@wmsde.org as soon as they become available. If you are sending a screenshot, please include the date tested.
Due to high volume, some testing locations are taking three or more days to process results. Please plan to test early in the testing window. We highly recommend that you complete your test by the weekend to ensure your results will be on time.
Upcoming Due Dates:
Wednesday, November 10 (test on or after November 3)
Watch your email for a letter with information regarding our next deadline and upcoming on-site testing!
As always, you are still welcome to have your child tested more frequently and may forward the results to covidresults@wmsde.org.
