Full School Year Calendar

Dear Families,

As an independent school, WMS is fortunate to be part of several professional organizations that offer high-quality resources for faculty and staff. These partnerships also allow us to extend valuable learning opportunities to our families. One such organization is ADVIS (Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools), which is committed to supporting and advancing independent school education. Through our affiliation with ADVIS, we are pleased to once again offer access to the ISACS Parent Series, a six-part webinar series designed specifically for independent school parents. Each session is one hour long and features expert insights on topics relevant to parenting and child development. Families who attend can also earn Co-op hours by participating.

As you know, WMS was founded by a dedicated group of families, families much like yours, who were committed to learning about and implementing an educational method that aligned with how children learn best in each stage of their lives. That founding vision continues to guide us today, and therefore, just as we nurture a love of learning in our students, we also recognize that WMS families are lifelong learners. We are pleased to provide opportunities that support you in your parenting journey and invite you to take advantage of this thoughtful and informative webinar series.

We hope you find the topics engaging and the content useful as you navigate the many stages of parenting. We’re especially looking forward to October’s presentation by Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation, an insightful book that faculty and staff read and discussed over the summer.

For more information on dates, times and session topics, please follow the link provided above. We will share the session registration links via Bloomz when they become available.

Warmly,

Sarah Williams

Head of School

NEWS & NOTES

Join us on the Journey & Earn Three Hours of Co-op Credit

September 30, 9 a.m. - Noon

Limited spaces available

Whether you're a long-time Wilmington Montessori School family or just beginning to learn about Montessori education - it is time to step out of the observation room and into the classroom!

During this event, you will:

  • Personally experience the Montessori educational process and better understand the teaching methods by getting hands-on with Montessori materials.
  • See first-hand how WMS prepares children for success in their educational journey.
  • Learn how each three-year program level builds and supports your child's development from introduction through eighth grade.
  • Open conversations with your child about classroom activities.
  • Realize the positive aspects of learning and succeeding at WMS.
  • Be more prepared to describe the distinction of a Montessori education to friends and family.
  • Earn three co-op hours!

Important Note - Because of the large amount of interest in this event, advance registration is required. We limit registration to ensure that the group is small enough that all attendees can interact with materials and have their questions answered!

Important Parking Lot Safety Reminder

At WMS, student safety comes first. Recently, we've seen a few instances of wrong-way driving and speeding, especially at morning drop-off. With young children who can be unpredictable near cars, please:

  • Follow the one-way traffic flow, and do not cut through the gravel portion of the lot.
  • Keep your speed low, and focus all of your attention on your driving and surroundings
  • Share these guidelines with anyone who drives on campus for your family (babysitters, relatives or friends).

Thank you for helping keep our students and families safe!
