Safety

Safety & Security Reminders

In light of the recent tragedy in Minnesota, we know that school safety is on everyone’s minds. We want to take a moment to share some of the measures in place at WMS and provide reminders on how families can help keep our community safe.

At WMS, a dedicated Safety and Security Committee meets regularly to review best practices and prepare for a wide range of emergency scenarios. Over the years, this team has been instrumental in initiatives such as our keycard access system and the installation of security cameras. Staff members also participate in ongoing safety training in partnership with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA), and all students and staff take part in a variety of drills throughout the year.

While we are happy to discuss the basics of our safety plans, we do not share specific details of our lockdown or lockout procedures in order to protect the safety of our community. We ask for your partnership by following these guidelines:

  • Wear your “WMS Family” badge at all times while inside the building.
  • Use your keycard to enter the building. If your card is misplaced, please contact Debbie so it can be deactivated.
  • Be prepared to reintroduce yourself when entering the building. Staff may request your ID and/or speak to you through the front entrance intercom system if they do not recognize you.
  • All visitors must sign in at the front desk and wear a visitor badge. Families who plan to remain in the building after drop-off time should sign in at the front desk so that we can account for everyone in the building.
  • Please enter and exit through the front door to help us monitor who is in the building, even if another exit may be more convenient.
  • If you notice anyone on campus who seems out of place or suspicious, notify the front desk or another administrator immediately.

Thank you for your continued support in helping WMS remain a safe and secure environment for everyone.

School's Out Child-Care Days

For the convenience of our families, child care is available on many days when school is closed. Please refer to our school calendar for the full schedule.

Families enrolled in the 12-month program are automatically registered for all child-care days. Other families are welcome to register for full- or half-day care for an additional fee. Visit our School's Out Child Care Registration site for details and to reserve* your child's spot.

Please contact Mariah Spencer, Extended Day Program Coordinator, with any questions.

*Registration will close one week prior to each scheduled child-care day. Late registration will be permitted as space allows, with a $15 late fee per child.
