Welcome to the December 2022 eNews

Dear Colleagues,

With this final newsletter of 2022, let us all reflect on the previous year, with all of its accomplishments, surprises, and new perspectives. I am grateful for the lessons and growth of the past year and look forward to breaking new ground in the coming year.

Our regional accreditor, NECHE, informed us that we are officially accredited for another decade. We were also accepted as a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), which allows us to offer high-quality distance learning programs, so long as we are in good standing. We formed a partnership with Shorelight International, which significantly increased our ability to recruit students globally. Following the pandemic, our faculty-led travel seminars resumed with successful trips to London and Sorrento (thank you, Tim and Brenda). We launched new programs, such as the MS in Computer Science and the MS in Pharmacogenomics (with more new offerings to come soon). We welcomed many new faculty members, with a large group joining us for new faculty orientation this past fall. We formed a partnership with McAllister & Quinn and were able to immediately submit a significant MassTech grant from the College of Business.

Looking ahead to the first half of 2023, we will hold open forums on the future shape of D’Amour Library, open a new faculty workshop on grants (more to come soon), and continue to build capabilities to better serve the academic enterprise.

I hope that you and your loved ones have a wonderful holiday season, find some rest and peace, and that you come back refreshed and looking forward to new beginnings.

Cheers,

Maria Toyoda

Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
