Happy New Year and welcome to 2021!
Last Wednesday we gathered eager to hear words of wisdom from Sharon Reaves, Director and Chief Human Resources Officer serving under the County of Summit Executive Ilene Shapiro. As each registrant joined the first Wake Up with WNLI of 2021, it felt strangely familiar. Our gathering place was a computer screen where we collectively waved, shared smiles, and settled in on mute. Soon someone broke the silence with a good morning shout-out to a long-unseen friend across the screen and it felt wonderful. We were together!
Shortly Ms. Reaves so eloquently began to share words of wisdom that we soaked up like refreshing water on parched ground. We needed the nuggets of wisdom around the sixth sense, our EQ; Self-Regulation, Motivation, Social Skills, and Empathy; all components of Emotional Intelligence.
She talked about “TBP” – The Big Picture – that triangle of work, relationships, and self-care.
She oh-so- wisely described the difficulty of keeping each corner of that triangle singing in unison. And she rightly rounded out the triangle tidbit with more wise words. “If two corners on that triangle are in balance…. you are doing pretty good.”
Thank you, Sharon Reaves. How timely and hopeful going into 2021!
