Missions Update
June 5, 2020

In last weeks MISSIONS UPDATE, I shared my heart for Ethnic Ministries. In this issue I would like to continue the conversation and introduce you to key individuals who will serve in leadership roles and in a liaison position to our Network pastors.

Those individuals include…
·   Lucas & Loles Bressen / Hispanic
·   Walter Harvey / African American
·   Lonnie Johnson / Native American
·   John Timothy / Asian
·   Nengdua Vang / Hmong

I will define their roles as Liaisons in next weeks issue.
I am very excited to introduce you to Dan Winkelman who will serve in oversight as the ETHNIC MINISTRIES LIAISON
Dan & Sandy served for twelve years as lead pastor at Highland church in Plover, WI., and for several years on the Foreign Missions Operating Board. He and Sandy have always demonstrated a strong passion for World Missions, and five years ago sensed God’s leading to go to the country of Myanmar (formerly Burma) to plant churches. In the span of three years, Dan & Sandy were instrumental in planting 70 churches reaching many Buddhists with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This past year Dan contracted pancreatic cancer and was sent home to begin treatment. He became very ill to the point of death, but as the church interceded on Dan’s behalf, God began to heal him. We are praising God for His miraculous touch on Dan’s body.
Long story short, rather than Dan and Sandy returning full time to Myanmar, AGWM has asked that Dan only travel to Myanmar a couple of times a year but continue raising funds for the church planting initiative in Myanmar. Dan & Sandy would base out of their home in Stevens Point.
The Winkelman’s were also granted permission to serve a dual portfolio which would include working within our Network. With that, I invited Dan to serve along side of me with ethnic ministries. Through this whole process we have sensed the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Dan & Sandy are truly godly people who want only for the gospel of Christ to spread both at home and abroad. Because of their passion for Church planting and their understanding of various cultures, I believe that Dan will serve well in this capacity.
Dan is available to hear your thoughts and ideas as they relate to ethnic ministries within Wisconsin and Northern Michigan.  If you sense that God is calling you to plant an Ethnic church, please call or text Dan.
