Hands On Break Out Session Added to Spring Seminar - Amniotic Membranes!

Your WOA is pleased to announced that we have added a Hands On Workshop on Amniotic Membranes at the upcoming WOA 2025 Spring Seminar, May 1-2, at the Glacier Canyon Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells. There is a maximum capacity of 30 doctors allowed in this session on a first come, first served basis for those that complete the online form below. The course is approved for 2 hours of Wisconsin OEB approved continuing education. The course will not be COPE approved.

The Speaker:

Dr. Kimberly Schauland, O.D., is an optometrist based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, specializing in Dry Eye Disease (DED) and Ocular Surface Disease (OSD). With a strong commitment to patient education, she ensures that individuals understand their condition and the rationale behind their treatment plans, leading to improved compliance and clinical outcomes. Dr. Schauland earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University.

The Course:

This course will review the amniotic membrane industry in the ocular space. There will be a review on the origins of this therapy in the ocular space, the exact mechanism on how it works, and where it is sourced from. Additionally, it will contrast and compare different preservation techniques and products available in the industry. The course will go into a specific disease state, Neurotrophic Keratitis, where amniotic membrane is being used first line as a therapy option, how to identify, test and document, as well as how to treat. Finally, the education will cover the CPT code, reimbursement and documentation.  The Wet Lab will include a demonstration and Hands On experience with Prokera and CAM360.
