Effective 10/1/2018 OSHA has given special emphasis on protecting employees working in trenches and excavations. The focus is to educate employees, require pre-planning work prior to digging and having a competent person overseeing all operations. Enforcement has been given authority to stop at your jobsite if they see excavation equipment and/or stock piles of dirt indicating an open excavation or trench may be present. The link below provides a visual guidance that can be posted in the office, jobsite trailer and gang boxes to help with education and planning.
