From Pastor Gary
Last Sunday, June 21, we had our first service with a portion of the congregation in the sanctuary. We had forty people which included the pastors and singers. It was truly wonderful to have people back in our building to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just a reminder, if you plan to attend this week, you need to go to the church website and register again.
As I work on the sermon this week, I wonder if you ever see people that are oppressed and feel guilty. Do you see someone on the street corner with a sign and drive right by even though you just cashed a check at the bank? Do you feel guilty as you pass by? Do you see something on the news that happens on the other side of the country or the other side of the world and you feel pangs of guilt even if you had nothing to do with it? There are times as a pastor that I see things happen that I wonder if I should preach a sermon on that subject, but then think if I don't address it no one will say anything. If they do, we can deal with it one on one.
God has put on my heart to address the subject of racism in our country and in our churches. The United Methodist Church has a campaign going right now called "United Methodist Stand Against Racism." I was able to sit in on a service that was broadcast online nationally yesterday. Methodist's from across the United States held a worship service that reminded us to stand up for those that are being mistreated, especially in the black communities. The message was more about not just saying it, but putting our words into action.
Whenever a pastor chooses to address a topic that is hard to speak about and sometimes hard to hear, it can be exhausting trying to say the right words and not offending people. On the other hand, I don't want to offend others by not saying anything. I have been talking to God all week about what He wants me to say. I hope I am hearing Him clearly. Would you pray for me as I work through the message God wants us to hear at Harvester this Sunday?

Harvester and the Daring Faith Team are working on planning for Harvester's 25th Anniversary Celebration!
We would like to collect pictures and "memories" from our church members from their time with Harvester - please think about any special, funny, touching moments you have had at Harvester or because of Harvester and share them by emailing to
or writing them out and dropping them in the Harvester Memories box that is in the main church hallway.
We would also like to do some short video member interviews where members can share about an experience with Harvester that can be shared. Please email
or drop a note in the Harvester Memories box if you would be willing to participate! We would love a variety of content - Harvester helping you come to Christ (anyone take Pastor Gary's Evangelism class or Class 401?), memories of getting married/baptized, funny memories, memories of meeting lifetime friends, etc.
