From The Pastor
A Blue Christmas?
I was talking with someone yesterday who said, "I'm having a tough time getting into the Christmas Spirit. It shouldn't be this difficult. I know I have so many reasons to praise and thank God, but this year it's just tough." Can you identify with these feelings? I can, too. There is so much to celebrate, but I'm feeling a bit flat myself.
This morning I was reminded of Psalm 73:16-17a, "I tried to think this problem through, but it was too difficult for me until I went into Your Temple." As with the psalmist, I have often struggled alone. Nothing made sense - until I went to church! When I gather with my church family for worship, I am reminded of God's Word, and experience the love from God through so many wonderful people. I find so many questions get answered, and I am constantly filled with renewed hope!
If you are struggling right now, I want to invite you to join your church family for worship this Sunday! During the 9am service, the choir will perform a Christmas cantata, "Bethlehem Morning," as a part of a Christmas play that has been written by Delaine Holsopple. You will also notice several members of our church acting out the parts. It should be a great blessing! (By the way, there will be a second opportunity to see the play and hear the cantata Sunday evening at 6pm!)
At our 11am worship service I will be continuing my series, "Emmanuel: God With Us." This week's sermon is especially for anyone who may be struggling during this Christmas season. If that's you, I hope you will make an effort to attend. If you know someone else who needs some encouragement, bring them, too!
This is a special time of year because of the birth of our Savior, and I look forward to celebrating it with you. Remember how much I love each of you, and am praying for you always!

From Pastor Gary
This second week of Advent centers on the love of God and how that love transforms us to love others.
As we prepare our hearts for the coming of our Lord, we prepare our homes for the arrival of family and friends. We imagine what it will be like to dine and visit with loved ones. We treasure thoughts of home-a place of safety and love.
Mary and Joseph had to leave home, just when they needed home the most. Their arduous journey to Bethlehem meant they were alone at a time when they most needed community. Yet God was present to Mary and Joseph in their wandering. They experienced God as Protector and Sustainer as they traveled to the unfamiliar surroundings of Bethlehem for the census.
God makes a promise through Jeremiah, and He keeps it in Bethlehem. Jesus is born, and nothing will ever be the same.
This is the week! A Day in Bethlehem takes place this Saturday from 9am-1:00pm. I can't wait to see the faces of the children as they get a glimpse of what things might have been like in Bethlehem as Mary and Joseph arrive in time to deliver a baby whose name will never be forgotten. We have over thirty five volunteers who are helping to make this day a very special one. We praise you God for your son and for always answering our needs!
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."

A Day In Bethlehem
Last chance to register your children!!!
The Children's Ministry Team will be hosting "A Day In Bethlehem" on Saturday, December 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event is for children K-5
grade. In a way it is like a one day VBS.
The children will experience the City Gates, the stable, the bakery, the fisher's pier, the spice shoppe, the toy shoppe, the census taker's office and a wool trader. We are going to feed the kids lunch this year too. We have extended the day by an hour this year to allow parents a chance to get some Christmas shopping done if they so choose.
God has a purpose for your pain, a reason for your struggle, and a reward for your faithfulness. Trust Him and don't give up!

Our original roof is 17 years old and the average lifespan in Florida is 20 years, so we are looking to replace it by 2021. Together as one body in Christ, we can work together and raise the funds ($23,100.00) over the next 3 years. If each member puts in $1.00 each week we would reach our goal. You can also pay $52.00 for the entire year!
Each Post-It Note is symbolic of a roof tile on the model in the church hallway for every $100.00 given to the Roof Fund. Thanks for participating!
Thank you to George Alexander, Shawn Smith and Denny Johnson for all the extra work and projects you do around the church and grounds. You guys are the best!
