Memorial Garden Rededication, Playground Reopening, and Fellowship Potluck Lunch
Sunday, August 14, After Worship
During the pandemic, our campus’s outdoor spaces became an essential component of WPC's ministries and gained more use than ever before. Over the last year or so, volunteers have dedicated many hours to beautifying our Memorial Garden and improving our playground areas for children. On Sunday, August 14, we will celebrate and give thanks for that hard work and our wonderful campus.
Immediately following worship on that day, we will rededicate our Memorial Garden. Join us as we pray and give thanks for this sacred space where families can gather to remember their loved ones.
Bring a potluck dish and stick around afterward to celebrate the reopening of our playground! Westminster’s playground is enjoyed not only by children and families from our church and preschool but also those from the surrounding community, so we want to be doubly sure our play areas are safe and welcoming for all. We’ve had new equipment installed and volunteers from La Nueva Jerusalén, Westminster School for Young Children, and others have helped spread mulch and make improvements. After worship on August 14, we invite you to bring a dish and share some food, fun, and fellowship with your WPC family. To help with our planning, please sign up to let us know you’re coming.
School Supply Drive for Local Students
We need your help! The Neighborhood Missions Committee is collecting school supplies to support Hope Valley Elementary and Githens Middle School. The schools are very grateful for all donations. There are three ways you can donate:
  • Purchase items on the list and put them in the GREEN bin in the Mission Center.
  • Write a check to WPC and put “Neighborhood Mission” on the memo line.
  • Make a donation online. Select “Neighborhood Missions” from the drop-down list of funds and follow the prompts.
  • Text WPCDURHAM PENCIL $25 to 73256 to give to the Neighborhood Mission fund using your text messaging. Standard text messaging rates may apply.

Items needed:
Zipper pencil pouches, letter-sized file folders, pencils, index cards, masking tape, dry-erase markers, construction paper, crayons (24-count pack), backpacks, rulers, Post-its, disposable masks, Kleenex, Elmer’s white glue, glue sticks, composition notebooks, resealable sandwich bags, AA batteries, color markers, hand sanitizer, gift cards

Please make all donations by Monday, August 22 so we can deliver the supplies before school starts. Thank you for helping make the start of the school year a little brighter for these students! Questions? Please contact Katie Hanczaryk or JP Hanczaryk.

An Invitation to Join Our Chancel Choir
Our Chancel Choir needs you! Please consider using your musical gifts to the glory of God by joining us this fall.

Westminster has always had wonderful, dedicated choir members, but the pandemic years have taken a toll on our program. Now it’s time to rebuild so that our choir can once again become the rich, robust component of worship it has always been. We need your help to make it happen!

Chancel Choir rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Room of the Holderness Mission Center. Mark your calendars – We will be delighted to welcome you! All voice parts are needed. Choral experience, while helpful, is not necessary. You won’t regret joining us on this wondrous, eye-opening musical/spiritual journey as we make a joyful noise to God through great sacred music. Our wonderful community of musicians is waiting for you!
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact Monica Umstaedt Rossman, Minister of Music.
