President's Message

Dear WPU Community,

"In all labour there is profit: But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury." –Proverbs 14:23

As we enter August, I would like to take the time to recognize the work of staff and faculty during the summer months to support our TRAD (Traditional) and PGS (Professional Graduate Studies) students.

In June, Dr. Cecelia Monto and team worked diligently to pursue a $3M~ Hawkins grant, which we hope to learn of its success in October.

Recently, Dr. Linda Campbell and team have made an application for a near $1.3M~HECC grant to support the ongoing work of our nursing program. We are also pleased to report that the efforts of Doug Wade and the facilities team have returned the Nursing program back to our campus. We welcome the program back to campus and look forward to seeing nursing students around the campus.

Our Athletic Director, Matt Gregg and our able head baseball coach, Jeff Bard, have begun the initial recruiting of our newly returned baseball team with 15-25 athletes joining this historic time in WPU athletics…

Warner Launches New Website

A labor of love has come to fruition in the form of an updated design for Warner Pacific's digital front door—our website.

This past spring, Warner partnered with Madison Avenue Collective out of Corvallis, Oregon who helped us create a dynamic and functional website for our students, community and partners to visit. Using our “Warner Pacific University: With Purpose” brand as a jumping off point, this new site showcases our students, faculty and staff and offers a great point of entry for anyone who wants to visit us.

“The photo of shaking the President’s hand was something that the school provided for all the graduates that day,” Jones said. “(It is) a cherished memory and keepsake, indeed…”

While these Warner Pacific University alums started out on different paths, all were led to careers in law enforcement with a vision to improve their communities.

First-generation Student Paving Her Own path

Gelsi Tuz-Uxul said being a student at Warner Pacific University was at times challenging, discouraging, joyous, and ultimately transformative.

As a student speaker at WPU’s Spring 2024 commencement, Tuz-Uxul shared a glimpse of her experience “as a proud Yucateca/Hispanic/Latiné first-generation graduate.”

“The road to graduation consisted of work, dedication, curiosity, and getting out of my comfort zone,” Tuz-Uxul said. “As a first-generation student, the path was uncharted, and the obstacles were daunting…”
