The 2025 WPY Summer Internship Program has officially come to an end. We celebrated the interns' successes with a Closing Ceremony at Gore Place in Waltham. Interns, families, and employers gathered to celebrate an incredible summer and the 87 interns who completed their internships.

The celebration was full of music, games, a photo booth, and ice cream sundaes from The Cravery. The highlight of the afternoon was hearing from our student speakers. Jason Zepeda Ramirez, a rising senior who interned at The Village Bank, shared his reflections on the summer: “I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and welcoming the staff and customers were. Knowing that I would be learning an entirely new skill set in a safe environment put my mind at ease and helped me gain more confidence in banking transactions.”

We also heard from recent Waltham High School graduate Priya Patel, who shared her journey through WPY’s internship program. Priya reflected on how her four WPY internships helped to shape her path toward becoming a Physician Assistant.

Thank you to interns, families, employers, and community partners for making this another fantastic summer!

Wraparound Waltham

Collaborating to create a community of belonging and opportunity for newcomer immigrant students and their families.

In August, our Family and Student Engagement Senior Coordinator, Marlen Godinez, represented the WPY Welcome Center at the Charles River Community Health Center's Health Week Celebration. This Waltham-based health fair brought together local community organizations and members to promote public health and access to resources in our city.

The Wraparound team also presented to Waltham Public Schools administrators, sharing ways in which administrators can support newcomer students and create spaces of safety, belonging, and connection through a trauma-informed lens.

Lastly, WPY's Summer Soccer Group wrapped up and celebrated with a pizza and ice cream party! During this summer program, these rising ninth grade students engaged with educators from Waltham High School and Waltham Public Schools, who now are friendly faces as the students begin the new school year.
