WPY's Summer Internship Program has been in full swing this month! Approximately 80 student interns have been working across 25 job sites this summer. This work also includes attending a WPY Career Talk each week. For the first time, these Career Talks are exclusively in person; this helps WPY staff to stay connected to students throughout the summer, boost engagement during the sessions, and allow for more student networking opportunities with the professionals who lead the sessions. This summer's Career Talks series has included sessions like, "Workplace Rights" with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, a visit to the Waltham Fire Department to learn about fire safety and operations, a field trip to New England Donor Services to learn about organ donation and meet with current medical school students, and a "Future of STEM Careers" panel with representatives from local STEM companies.

Wraparound Waltham
Collaborating to create a community of belonging and opportunity for newcomer immigrant students and their families.
| | WPY's Wraparound team at a meeting of the Waltham Community Response Collaborative | | |
July marked the end of the Summer Soccer Group for the Wraparound Program. Students from Kennedy and McDevitt Middle Schools and Waltham High School came together during eight sessions to build new relationships with each other, play friendly soccer matches, and meet trusted adults from the middle schools, high school, and on WPY's staff. Students and WPS/WPY staff alike celebrated the last day with a tournament and pizza party. Thank you to those who took time out of their busy summer schedules to join our Summer Soccer Group!
The Wraparound team also attended a Waltham Community Responsible Collaborative (WCRC) meeting; this group, facilitated by WATCH CDC, aims to support families with children enrolled in Waltham Public Schools who are experiencing homelessness. The team looks forward to continuing this important work in partnership with so many important local organizations and community members.
