  • Aug 1 – 14
  • Aug 15 – 28
  • Aug 29 – Sept 4
  • Sept 5 – 11

If you/your group has capacity to supervise elective students during either of the above time periods. If you have any questions about supervising electives, please contact Pauline Dawson, or Electives REL Dr. Theresa Liu

On behalf of our WRC learners and staff, we thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to medical education. We appreciate your ongoing support of our WRC trainees!

ELECTIVE CATALOGUE

As educators, it is our hope that electives would be used by students to develop a personalized curriculum that compliments their learning from the core curriculum. This would enable each student to create individual opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are required of practicing physicians.

If you are interested to be added into the Elective Catalogue, please complete the following form to provide detailed information on medical student electives opportunities at the Waterloo Regional Campus.

Recorded Past Events:

In incorporating a teaching role into their practice, physicians face additional challenges from the administrative tasks related to teaching. Paperwork and other administrative tasks are primary causes of burnout for most physicians as they allocate more professional time to them. This workshop will address practical strategies to increase efficiency and even enjoyment of doing this much-dreaded portion of our work day as physicians and clinical teachers.

RIGHT TO DISCONNECT POLICY

As of May 31, 2022, McMaster University introduced a Disconnecting From Work Policy.

The University is committed to advancing human and societal well-being and strives to nurture and support a healthy work environment for our employees. In light of the evolution of the work environment, including the advancement of digital workplace solutions (e.g., collaboration tools and document management tools), the University recognizes that providing mechanisms to disconnect outside of work hours supports our commitment and encourages a culture focused on enabling harmony of work and personal pursuits.

We recognize that due to the nature of our work, the program and program leaders may communicate with staff, faculty, and student after hours. However, responding after hours is not required or expected unless the matter is marked "urgent matter" or "workplace emergency".
