WRL is excited to announce the 2023 Schedule of Events! Below you will find provisional dates for all scheduled races in 2023. 

In 2023 WRL will be looking back while exploring some new territory. We will be tweaking our formats and expanding our schedule in an effort to better meet demand. We've heard your suggestions, concerns and feedback and will continue to innovate, reinvent and push ourselves as an organization in the same way you push yourselves as drivers. 

Everyone has a "perfect schedule" in their mind's eye - and we do too. Ideally we'd go everywhere that everyone has requested over the last 12 months. Unfortunately that just isn't feasible in the real world, but we've worked hard to put together a schedule we feel is the best balance of bucket-list tracks, geographical coverage of our current/emerging markets and time between races. For 2023 we spoke with more tracks than we ever have in schedule preparation - even if you don't see your favorite track here those relationships are being formed and our sights are likely already set. WRL is already hard at work on the 2024 schedule and have some big things in the works. YOUR 2023 WRL SCHEDULE

NOLA Motorsports Park — Jan 20-22, 2023

Championships: National, Eastern, Mid-West, GTU

Registration opens: Dec 7, 2023

Format: Test + 9 hour + 7 hour

WRL is excited to announce that NOLA has been chosen to kick off the 2023 WRL season once again! This 2.75 mile road course offers a fantastic blend of technicality and speed that lends itself to a high level of competition. Wonderful facilities and close proximity to downtown New Orleans make this track a destination worth experiencing for yourself. Look for numerous surface & facility improvements for 2023!!

NOLA repaving is complete and facility improvements have been taking place! Surface condition and resulting tire wear, paddock condition, etc are all dramatically improved. Join us in NOLA for the ONLY event in 2023 that counts for all 4 championships! 

Road Atlanta — Feb 10-12, 2023

Grand Touring Classes ONLY (GTO & GTU)

Championships: National, Eastern, GTU

Registration opens: Dec 14, 2023

Format: Test + 8 hour + 8 hour

WRL heads to beautiful Road Atlanta for the 2nd round of the 2023 WRL Championship season and the FIRST EVER GT-only event! This 2.55 mile road course has been the favorite track of many racers since they opened their doors in 1970. Join us for 16 hours of racing and 4 hours of practice / qualifying (included) and up to 24 hours of total track time in Feb 2023!

We recognize that in order to evolve, grow and learn we must try new things - and this is an example of just that. As always the direction of the series lies primarily in the hands of our competitors: we will be seeking feedback on this format. Adding dates to our schedule is extremely difficult but we are committed to growing to meet demand - in an effort to increase capacity at our highest demand races with low car capacities we will be working towards adding a second dates, but this will take some time. Multi-class racing is still the core of what we do, and at this time we still feel most events will be comprised of all classes.

Barber Motorsports Park — Mar 3-5, 2023

Championships: National, Mid-West

Registration opens: Jan 11, 2023

Format: Test + 9 hour + 7 hour

Barber motorsports park is BACK as the 3rd round of the 2023 WRL Championship season with a move to the Mid-West Championship! Called the Augusta National of racetracks, Barber never disappoints! This 2.38 mile, 16 turn facility boasts a ton of elevation, huge technicality and race-ability that makes this a WRL favorite every year.

Barber moves to the Mid-West championship! This historically dual- championship event has moved to the Mid-West due to it's general proximity to other events in this championship and to balance the calendars. The Mid-West Championship was a barn-burner in 2022, teams who do well here will be poised for a great run at the Mid-West Championship that will be decided at a WRL fan-favorite venue in 2023.

Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course — Apr 7-9, 2023

Championships: National, Mid-West

Registration opens: Feb 15, 2023

Format: Test + 8 hour + 8 hour

We’re headed back to Lexington, OH for the 4th round of the 2023 WRL National Championships! This 2.4 mile, 15 turn racing complex was built in 1962 and has been a fixture of the North American endurance racing landscape since it’s inception. Add your name to the long list of accomplished drivers who have raced and won on this iconic circuit in April, 2023.

Road America — May 5-7, 2023

Championships: National, Mid-West, GTU

Registration opens: Mar 8, 2023

Format: Test + 9 hour + 7 hour

Join us for the 2023 Can Am Endurance Cup at Road America—4 hours of practice/qualifying on Friday followed by 16 hours of racing between Saturday and Sunday at this historic facility. As one of the only tracks that has maintained it's original configuration since opening, Road America is a truly unique (and fast) experience. Race the kink with us at one of our most popular events this coming May!

DAYTONA — Jun 9-10, 2023

Championships: National, Eastern, GTU

Registration opens: Apr 12, 2023

Format: Test + 14 hour

WRL heads to Daytona for 14 hours of racing finishing under the lights at the World Center of Racing! REGISTRATION INCLUDES FRIDAY TEST! Race this legendary 3.57 mile road course with us and enjoy the 18* banking, bus stop and of course the unforgettable Daytona Beach sunset as we race into the night!

VIR Full Course — July 7-9, 2023

Championships: National, Eastern, GTU

Registration opens: May 10, 2023

Format: Test + 9 hour + 7 hour

Virginia International Raceway - This 3.27 mile, 17 turn road course nestled in Alton, VA was built in 1957 and is one of the famed tracks built in the "old" style. That means tons of speed, elevation and technicality dictated by the landscape itself. Get ready to ascend the famous “climbing esses” in July 2023.

Due to VIR schedule conflicts, this event has been moved to July, forcing not-insignificant changes throughout the schedule. The great news? VIR is still on the schedule! This track has so much to offer and we did the work we absolutely had to do to make this available to our customers in 2023. 

Road Atlanta — July 28-30, 2023

General Production Classes ONLY (GP1, GP2, GP3)

Championships: National, Eastern

Registration opens: June 14, 2023

Format: Test + 8 hour + 8 hour

WRL heads BACK to beautiful Road Atlanta for the 8th round of the 2021 WRL Championship season and the first-ever GP-only event! This 2.55 mile road course has been the favorite track of many racers since they opened their doors in 1970. Join us for 16 hours of racing in July 2023!

WRLs first ever GP only event will happen at Road Atlanta in 2023! Some may wonder why the dates were allocated the way they were and the answer is simple - growth and stability of the GP classes is absolutely critical to the WRL we all know and love. This mid-year date will give us plenty of time to market this event, for you to tell your friends so we can make this a landmark event for WRL and our GP classes. We hope this format will attract some new teams to WRL so we can continue to rachet-up the already incredible level of competition in GP1-3!

High Plains Raceway — Sep 1-3, 2023

Championships: National, GTU Mid-West*

Registration opens: Jul 12, 2023

Format: Test + 8 hour + 8 hour

WRL heads back to High Plains Raceway in Deer Trail Colorado with a Test+8+8 weekend! If you've not been to High Plains you're in for a treat—a perfect blend of speed, technicality and elevation at a great facility await you in the shadows of the rocky mountains. With 15 turns and 300' of elevation this complex is as technical as it is challenging.

Thank you to Glenn and the team at HPR for making big moves to make our 2023 schedule work. The cherry on the cake? We now find ourselves on a cooler date that will help keep even the hottest of cars cool at altitude. If you haven't checked out HPR yet, ask your friends and mark it on your calendar - you want to race here. On top of all this, points standings at the conclusion of this event will determine invite status for the invite-only 2023 Mid-West finale at... you'll see in a minute!

New Jersey Motorsports Park — Sep 29-Oct 1, 2023

Championships: National*, Eastern** 

Registration opens: Aug 2, 2023

Format: Test + 9 hour + 7 hour

New Jersey Motorsports park's Thunderbolt track makes the 2023 WRL schedule! This venue has played host to professional events ranging from IMSA and PWC to Trans Am and endurance racing is a big part of their history. NJMP will mark the last round of the 2023 "regular" season - meaning critical points for consideration for a spot in the 2023 National Championship at COTA will be on the line! This 2.25 mile circuit offers 14 turns, a ton of character and plenty of challenges for our racers. See you at NJMP in September, 2023!

Several venues in the NE were considered for the 2023 schedule, but NJMP was able to help us secure a date that worked with our schedule. NJMP has big things planned and we want to be a part of it! This is a great opportunity to experience the original surface ahead of a planned repave following our weekend. 

*THIS IS THE LAST "REGULAR SEASON" EVENT OF 2023. POINTS STANDINGS AT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS EVENT WILL DETERMINE INVITE STATUS FOR THE (PLANNED) INVITE-ONLY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT COTA.

Hallett Mid-West Championship — Oct 20-22, 2023

Championships: National, Mid-West Championship Finale 

Registration opens: Sep 6, 2023

Format: Test + 8 hour + 8 hour

HALLETT IS BACK! This 1.8-mile undulating circuit is absolutely oozing with history, charisma and incredible race-ability. Prepare for two distinct races as we will test, qualify and race in BOTH directions, taking advantage of one of the best features of this circuit. This event will also have the MOST included track time of any 2023 event with practice and qualifying in BOTH directions occupying all day (no hpde)! We are so excited to bring this WRL-mainstay back, once again marking the conclusion of the Mid-West Championship.

MUST BE PRESENT TO CLAIM MID-WEST CHAMPIONSHIP - Due to the low car count of this event, the 40 entry spots will be allocated to the top-10 teams in each class. Registration will open to the public on the published date to fill remaining spots. 

Sebring Eastern Championship — Nov 10-12, '23

Championships: National, GTU, Eastern Championship Finale

Registration opens: Oct 4, 2023

Format: Test + 8 hour + 8 hour

WRL Heads back to Sebring International Raceway - the “birthplace of American Endurance Racing” for the final round of the 2023 WRL Eastern Championship season. The best way to sum up Sebring is as iconic - since 1950 this track has played hosts to the most famed drivers and teams that racing has ever seen. Get ready to take on the bumps of this 3.74 mile, 17 turn icon in October of 2023.

MUST BE PRESENT TO CLAIM EASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP - the first 40 entry spots will be allocated to the top-10 teams in each class with points being tabulated at the conclusion of the NJMP round of the 2023 championship. Registration will open to the public on the published date to fill remaining spots. 

COTA National Championship — Dec 1-3, 2023

Championships: National Championship Finale, GTU Championship Finale

Registration opens: October 18, 2023

Format: Test + 8 hour + 8 hour

WRL Returns to Circuit of the Americas for it's signature National Championship event! 20 hours of included track time at the only Formula 1 track in the US! Experience the thrill of 90 cars in a multi-class endurance format at this incredible facility December, 2023! This event has always sold out, be sure to be ready when registration opens to secure your spot at the 2023 US Endurance Championship at COTA.

Due to demand, and our desire to support the teams who have committed to WRL competition in 2023, this event is planned to be invite-only to the top contenders in each class at the conclusion of the last "regular season" event at NJMP. In the event that spots remain, they will be available to the public on the published registration date. 

MUST BE PRESENT TO CLAIM NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - ALL entry spots will be allocated to the top teams in each class with points being tabulated at the conclusion of the NJMP which marks the final round of the "regular" season. Registration will open to the public on the published date to fill remaining spots should they exist.

A MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT

Once again, 2022 has been "the best" season of WRL we've seen - and it's not over yet. Your dedication, passion, support, and feedback has absolutely not gone unnoticed. Every year brings with it new challenges, but just as you've risen to the the challenges that endurance racing presents, we will rise to these new opportunities in the same manner. No matter how challenging this job can be for WRL and it's staff, we're constantly reinvigorated by the support and unbelievable spirit of competition you, our competitors, display each weekend.

2023 is set to be a year of incremental progress, with a focus on increasing the level of competition, safety and accountability of competitors and the series alike. There are a lot of things in the works that will be made public in due time ahead of the 2023 season.

We're thrilled to serve you as your endurance racing series of choice and will work tirelessly so we can continue to say with confidence that we are the "best endurance racing in North America".
