Taylor Schilling Shares A Message of Support and Unity with Her Hometown of West Roxbury
Taylor Schilling, American Actress known for her role on the hit Netflix show, Orange is the New Black , was born and raised in West Roxbury. She graciously filmed a video for us to share with the community about her experience growing up in West Roxbury and visiting her favorite spots on Centre Street. She also offers a message of hope for these unprecedented times.
WRMS will be posting more videos on our social media accounts in the next several days from community members, local business owners, athletes, city officials, and a few more special guests to share words of reflection, inspiration, hope, and encouragement.

Local business owners: If you would like to create a short video about how you're doing, who you're thankful for, and how the community can help, please email [email protected] .
Business Listing
Takeout, delivery, shipping, gift cards, and other ways to support local safely.

The businesses of West Roxbury are run by our friends and neighbors. They touched our lives every day. Now, more than ever, we need to support them through this crisis. Our businesses have given generously to so many community initiatives including the Taste of West Roxbury, Corrib 5k, Mary Mulvey Jacobson's Families in Need, Rosie's Place, Rose's Bounty Food Pantry, the Holiday Market, and many more. We can repay the favor now!

Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting district businesses on our social media. You will learn from the owner of the shop how you can help them, whether it is through gift card sales, online shopping, or an online fundraising campaign.

Check our  website for the latest listing of open businesses, takeout/delivery options, and gift certificates. A Boston-wide list of open businesses can be found here .

As a reminder, residents are encouraged to remain in their homes as much as possible throughout the day and only leave for essential needs, including trips to the grocery store, pharmacy, emergency meal sites and other essential services. Residents are discouraged from visiting essential businesses only to browse and should be mindful of only visiting essential businesses to pick-up essential items.
Happy 5-Year Anniversary to Perfect 10 Unisex Salon!

Johnny's Takeaway is feeding the front line

"So far, YOU, the fine people of this country have donated 1,220 meals to support the front line workers of the hospitals here in MA.

Channel 7 picked up our first round of donations on Saturday to MGH. We have attached pictures below.

We aren't stopping yet. We will be delivering meals for the next 5 weeks on Saturday's & Wednesday's.

We have gathered donations from Boston & all surrounding towns, as well as Colorado, Texas, Florida, and Washington.

WOW! We will be here cooking as long as you need us to!

Thank you from the frontline responders, families impacted by Covid-19 & all of us @ Johnny's Takeaway."

Also, check out this podcast interview from Vistaprint Small Business Stories to hear Chef Johnny talk about changing focus to offer food delivery, keeping his staff engaged and his plan to help support medical workers on the frontlines.
Centre Street business, Imperial Promotions , launches #RestaurantStrong initiative. The spread of COVID-19 and widespread efforts to keep people at home has led to astounding numbers of restaurant employees suddenly without a paycheck.

For several decades, Imperial Promotions has served the hospitality industry with branded apparel. To support the industry in this time of great need, the designers at Imperial Promotions have created a custom cap, highlighted by a symbol of appreciation and love for restaurant employees.

For every hat purchased, Imperial Promotions will donate $10 to  The Greg Hill Foundation's Restaurant Strong Initiative.

The foundation has teamed up with Samuel Adams to support those from the Massachusetts restaurant industry who have been impacted by the Covid-19 closures. Imperial Promotions will offer reduced pricing for volume purchases and provide free shipping as well. Purchase Here .
Sofia's Italian Stakehouse is providing 50% discount for nurses and healthcare professionals on take-out orders.
Top it Off’s #SupportLocal campaign allows stores that carry our line around the country, to offer their own store promo codes that result in a revenue share when their customers shop on our website – and their customers get free shipping.

The response has been enthusiastic to say the least! It's a great way for us to support our Main Street gift shops while their doors are closed.
